This property was in a perfect location, we were over from Ireland to visit friends, who live locally. So when this poped up as available, we were delighted with the location, the pictures of the property were lovely. They do it no justice!! It is a beautiful property, bright, clean and spacious, it was perfect for 5 adults. A well equipped kitchen, enabled us to cook, with a good selection of all the items you would need, Pots, pans, crockery, cutlery and glasses. A good sized fridge and freezer and a dishwasher, always a bonus when you on holidays!! A good sized sitting room with tv, comfy couches and a fire, which thankfully we didn't need as it's July! 3 bedrooms, all clean and bright, with very comfortable beds. 2 Bathrooms, which wasn't really clear on the description, but one toilet, whb and shower downstairs and one toilet, whb and bath upstairs. Grace was so good to deal with, as we were looking for a late check in, so having the lock box, meant we could arrive at 10pm, without having to have somebody meet us, Grace was so good and arranged bits so we could have a cup of tea after our day travelling, which we were very grateful for. Having off road parking was also super handy. Would highly recommend this property as a base for seeing the local dales and attractions, we took in Chatsworth House among other places. A visit to Bakewell is a must also. Finally loved the Sycamore Inn, which is a 2 minute walk from the house. So a ten out of ten.
On average, 3-star hotels in Matlock cost £95 per night, and 4-star hotels in Matlock are £127 per night. If you're looking for something really special, a 5-star hotel in Matlock can on average be found for £189 per night (based on Booking.com prices).
This is a review of Matlock BATH, not Matlock. An absolutely wonderful place, seaside, without the sea. Cash is king here so don't rely on cards! Super friendly, full of bikers, motorbikes, not beastly pushbikes! Children and adults will LOVE it. Tons to do, don't miss the quirky aquarium.

Matlock is a hidden gem!
Matlock is a hidden gem! Lumsdale Falls & the Heights of Abraham are a must, it's also the perfect home base for those looking to explore the peak district, with the furthest attraction we visited only being around 45 minutes away, close to natural swimming areas and lots of lovely villages and walks!

We didnt get to see much as we were only staying the night on route home staying elsewhere. We did go to the National Stone Centre which was very close to Cromford. Cost £1.50 to park and admission was free. Interesting geo-trail with explanations about the formation of the local rocks and additional footpaths for those who wanted to walk further. Nice cafe and shop on-site.

Matlock is lovely, a few shops and good selection of bars and restaurants. We found a good walk along the cliff top and into Matlock Bath. Matlock Bath is very busy, buzzing with motor bikers, great atmosphere, a couple of pubs and a lot of Fish and Chip shops!!

Lovely riverside walks. Heights of Abraham worth a visit.
Lovely riverside walks. Heights of Abraham worth a visit. Can get busy there in summer. Limited food outlets in Matlock Bath, mostly fish and chips. Lots of motorbikes when the weather is good so traffic held up. Easily accessible by train from Derby and bus from Sheffield only cost £2.00

Matlock Bath has 24 fish & chip shops (!!!), a couple of traditional pubs and an excellent Indian restaurant, The Balti.
For fine dining, go to Stones in Matlock itself. Fabulous!
Traffic is awful at weekends and especially Bank Holidays.
Cromford Mill is a must visit (with the volunteer tour guide).
Famous bookshop and great Chocolate Shop also in Cromford.
This hotel is beautiful, the garden around it is so lovely and it all lit up in the evening. The staff are really friendly and the room was a good size with a lovely ensuite bathroom. It was so warm in the room with the radiators on all evening that we had the window open in February! The location is great, a quick 2 minute drive into matlock bath and it was all finished off with a really good breakfast.
Great location. It is a short walk down the road to the town and local restaurants/hotels. The station is even closer if you want to go to Matlock Bath to experience the Heights of Abraham or Cromford for the Mill complex. Arrive by train or bus to Matlock Bath and the cable car is discounted. This is a quiet location with welcoming hosts who provide a marvellous breakfast to order.
Greeted by a very welcoming lady. Room no 4, huge bed. Great shower, best I’ve ever had in a hotel. Room was very clean. Tea/coffee provided. We had a cooked breakfast served by the same Lovely lady. Food excellent. Central location to Matlock or Matlock bath.
Definitely would stay here again.
