The property was absolutely breath-taking! The rooms are situated on a hill opposite a running river, sheep, and more pheasants than I've seen in my life! There are clean facilities there. Bathrooms were clean and convenient. There's a shared miniature cabin where you can make use of the wood burning stove, some basic kitchen utensils, seating, books/guides for local attractions, and some board games in case the weather gets too wet for outdoor activities.

A wonderful and cozy place to stay in Balleter. The host was friendly and briefed us on the do's n don't while staying there. The room was neat and clean. We appreciated very much the welcome pack of cookies and the taste of local whiskey. Breakfast was fantastic and cooked as requested from the menu. A good variety! Checking in and out was easy at the reception. A close walk to the town center.

The owner, Allison and her Partner have a beautiful B&B. With lovely gounds. This was a last minute reservation for a one night stay, yet the hostess couldn't have been more welcoming. We were especially charmed by Teddy! Our room was large, comfortable and well appointed. My husband has trouble walking, so the first level room with it's own entrance was perfect for our needs. We arrived in the early evening, when most area restaurants were closed , but Allison worked her magic, making reservation for us at a nearby country club Hilton. The next morning, we ate a delicious full English breakfast in a beautiful garden setting. What a wonderful way to start our journey to Balmoral Castle! We visited The U.K. for a month, stayed in fancy hotels during our trip, but none compared to this haven. We did not want to leave! Serendipitous, is the word that comes to mind when thinking of our visit to this hidden gem! We hope to return one day soon! Thank you, Allison so very much for taking the time to visit with us, for your kindness, hospitality and all the little touches that made our stay so enjoyable. Best regards, The Ham Family

We went to Ballater to be close to Balmoral Castle, where we went to an artisans market on the grounds. We were there in October, so opening of other parts of the castle were not available, due to royal residence use. I would return to this beautiful part of Scotland again if given the chance, to see more of the castle.

Beautiful little town in a stunning location.

Beautiful little town in a stunning location. The town is decorated with the most amazing hanging baskets. Several pubs, all seemed to be busy and offered good value food. The town is ideally located for exploring the beautiful area

A very scenic town centre.

A very scenic town centre. A good supermarket and several specialist shops (bookshop especially) . just try and avoid the sweetshop (far too tempting) Several nice restaurants and an excellent fish and chip shop. Bike hire by the old station and easy routes along the old line.

Ballater is a lovely village.

Ballater is a lovely village. Very clean and tidy as you would expect being so close to Balmoral Castle. Beautiful hanging baskets outside the shops Plenty of cafes and gift shops. Lovely village green around the Church in the centre of Ballater with seating areas . Free car park and free parking around the Church. Lovely village to visit or stay. We stayed overnight at The Barrel before visiting Balmoral Castle the following day.

It has been the most wonderful and comfortable place we have...

It has been the most wonderful and comfortable place we have stayed in on our trip we had been away for 4 weeks and this place by far the very best. Homemade cakes and a great breakfast. Highly recommend to everyone to stay, but you should stay a minimum of two nights.

Cambus O May Hotel situated in beautiful woodland & being dog friendly is ideal,their own dog is so adorable.We loved the decor,which gives the hotel its special character.Great hospitality from Derek and his staff.Lovely breakfast,rooms are clean with great views.Comfortable bed & loved the bath.Near to Braemar, Pitlochry nice walks in the area, well situated for things to see & do.

A good hotel in the centre of Ballater now owned and operated by the Crerar group. Comfortable room, good spacious bar and lounge. Pleasant if not outstanding evening meals and good breakfast selection. There is a spa - I didn't have the chance to try it.
