Located in Ballater, within 8.1 mi of Balmoral Castle and 8.1 mi of Royal Lochnagar Distillery, Celicall provides accommodations with a garden and free WiFi as well as free private parking for guests... This former church has been tastefully converted, enabling retention of the original features. Auld Kirk Hotel is located in the heart of picturesque Royal Deeside. New to us as we tour and visit The Cairngorms again, the fact that Auld Kirk Ballater it is a ‘converted church’ was appealing and what a delightful choice we made, a unique stay! Perfectly clean and decorated with exquisite taste. We were so welcomed by Helen and Kevin and loved the informal chat received on arrival, made us feel completely at ease ref. Covid-19 policies, all good. Which then lead to more positive conversations over a wonderful full Scottish breakfast, made and served by Lisa 5 star staff, so glad we found this and certain we will be in touch again very soon we will highly recommend to friends and family x Thank you x

In the Cairngorms National Park, this luxurious country house is 8 miles from Balmoral Castle and has a swimming pool, a beauty spa, gym and tennis court. Shame not to have had a breakfast served in the restaurant. Basic breakfast in a brown paper bag
Ballater is a beautiful village in the centre of a stunning location, plenty of walks and places to visit. Indian restaurant was really nice, lots of little local shops to browse through, would recommend a visit.
Great base for touring the area plus lots of amenities in Ballater to suit most people, variety of restaurants and shops etc. The town caters for the tourist. We liked the Balmoral Hotel for a drink or a bite to eat. We ate in the Lochnagar Indian Brasserie and the Clachan Grill both excellent. I spotted two bicycle hire shops as well.
Ballater is only a short distance from Balmoral and Braemar, with the Cairngorms right on the doorstep. Lovely small shops and 3 or 4 excellent restaurants. Its location is ideal for walkers and hikers. In our view it is the best place to stay when visiting the Cairngorms.
Love Ballater lovely flat golf course and very welcoming staff in shops are very friendly and helpful as they also are in the local cafes and restaurants Lovely walks just a very relaxing place for a holiday
Ballater is a lovely town in it's own right and a perfect base to explore the surrounding area. we found the "locals" very friendly and willing to talk about their town. a lot of history and good walking countryside with good variety of shops and cafes - even during these worrying times.
Ballater has long been a favourite spot of mine. It is a great base for anyone who loves hillwalking with paths for all competencies. For those looking to do Munros, they are within easy driving distance - or catch the bus and do linear walks (my favourite). For those looking for something less challenging Morven and the Coyles of Muick are shorter walks that provide glorious views of the surrounding countryside. Plenty for the cyclists to do as well - and options of where to hire a bike from. There isn't that much to do here if the weather is wet (plenty if it's snowing!) but they do have a wonderful bookshop (Deeside Books) where I've managed to pick up some second-hand bargains over the years.

We loved staying in a lodge in the heart of Ballater and within easy reach of so many excellent walking routes. The peaceful lodge had everything needed for a short or longer stay, with the dishwasher being an added bonus. The local Co-op has a great range of items for all self-caterers. If you don't want to self-cater, then Ballater also has some excellent cafes, restaurants and take-aways. All-in-all, a lovely place to stay.
We were travelling for leisure purposes and had a very early start in the morning and the honest very kindly laid out our breakfast for us to allow us to eat before leaving. Lovely touch. Spacious room and loved the finishes of toiletries. Absolutely spotless.
Loved my stay there. The vibe was very nice. Comfortable bed. Amazing food! Having a meal by the fireplace was a wonderful experience.
Excellent location and very tasty breakfast.
