Nestled in 2 acres of private woodland in Ballater, this small family-run hotel offers free WiFi, parking, log fires, delightful dining and comfortable bedrooms. The food and service for breakfast and dinner were excellent, the best we had on our travels to 7 different BandBs around Scotland - from Glasgow, Pitlochry, Ballater, Inverness, Skye, Glencoe, Islay, and back to Glasgow.
In the Cairngorms National Park, this luxurious country house is 8 miles from Balmoral Castle and has a swimming pool, a beauty spa, gym and tennis court. Room was immaculate and lovely staff.
Gordon Guest house is located in Ballater, within Cairngorns National Park. Free WiFi access is available. Each room here will provide you with a TV. Martin and Amanda have put a lot of love and special attention to each aspect of their B and B. The breakfasts were amazing...from the fresh fruit salad to the robust flavorful coffee. Our room had a lovely view and the bed was most comfortable. A fabulous place to stay in Ballater!
This former church has been tastefully converted, enabling retention of the original features. Auld Kirk Hotel is located in the heart of picturesque Royal Deeside. The church, the location, the beds, the tea, the bathroom, the breakfast, the friendly people, it was just great.
No 45 is a guest house set in an acre of gardens and is just 5 minutes' walk from the center of Ballater. The individually designed rooms each offer unique charm. Breakfast was very delicious. The owners were very friendly. Beautiful establishment.

In the rustic village of Dinnet in the heart of Royal Deeside, this family-run hotel is ideal for exploring the Highlands and tourist and sports activities in Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire. Breakfast and dinner were more than adequate and nicely presented. Bed and room were very comfy. There are lovely walks from the hotel.
Located in Dinnet in the Grampian region, 1 Rajabarrie Cottage has a terrace. The property is 22 miles from Braemar. It's easiest to say that we enjoyed everything! Fabulous newly renovated property and the hosts couldn't have been more accommodating.
Ballater is a pretty highland village situated on the river Dee in an area of outstanding natural beauty. As well as lovely walks, independent shops, eateries and restaurants it has a fabulous camp site right on the river.
Pretty area - castles to see, small towns with friendly people - food good with good prices in the area. Cairngorm man is great - funicular great walk around the top is the MTV great - not to be missed
We loved visiting Balmoral Castle. The audio guide was good, and the walks around the estate were even better. Ask for the trail map when you buy your ticket. I found a cute dress shop with OK prices.
This has for many years been a kind of home from home, and we love both the town and the surrounding countryside. I would recommend it to anyone. At the moment the town is still recovering from disastrous floods last winter, but there is still plenty to do and see. We love Loch Muick (but make sure you have £4 in coins for the car park - excellent value). Lochnagar is a stunning mountain; if you are fit, climb it, if not, enjoy the many excellent views of it, particularly from the Balmoral-Tomintoul road. Then there's Balmoral, of course, open in early summer and well worth a visit.
Lovely village in heart of Royal Deeside. Sad to witness the devastation of the recent floods. Several shops closed but pleased we visited & lent our support. Alexandra Hotel - reasonable food at reasonable cost. Deeside a Hotel - very depressing & food left a lot to be desired. White wine served warm. Hilton country club good to pop in for meals & bar snacks. Braemar, Balmoral, Crathie all nearby.

Tucked into a really sweet town, the Deeside Inn is the perfect mountain retreat. Fans of Britain’s Royal Family, and whisky alike, will appreciate the proximity to Balmoral Castle and Royal Lochnagar Distillery, while those seeking outdoor activities and scenery will be pleased with the trails, golfing, fishing, (we were there in May, so can’t comment on skiing), and stunning views throughout Cairngorms National Park. Dinner at the bar was delicious (try the chicken and ham pie!), and breakfast in the dining room was equally good.

Modern, clean and stylish ensuite room, hosted by a friendly and welcoming couple (and their two beautiful dogs). The bathroom facilities were great, with a powerful shower! Tea/coffee making facilities plus a small fridge in the room. A simple breakfast is also provided. The place is within walking distance to everything in Ballater, and the hosts are more than happy to tell you where the best spots in town are.

We had a great overnight stay. Nicole was so friendly and the facilities are very clean. The location is the perfect combination of isolation and silence and being close to the next town (Ballater) if you fancy going out for dinner. We wish we could’ve stayed longer...

Very good location in Ballater. Nice hospitality and very comfortable room. Our family of three stayed in the Garden Room and it was really lovely. A great plus was the large bathtub in addition to a shower. The breakfast was delicious. Really a gem of a place.

Unusual bed and breakfast but with lots of nice touches. Breakfast was extremely well done and offered a great European style continental plus a full Scottish menu. Great coffee. Informative host. The location is walking distance to pubs and restaurants.

The photos simply don't do this house justice - it was exceptionally well-kitted out and extremely comfortable for all of our party of 10, ranging from 16-65. Beds very very comfy with good quality bed and bath linen and Sky TV in every bedroom and even in one of the bathrooms - what luxury. The kitchen with aga as well as hob/conventional oven and microwave suited all our needs and we spent a lot of time sitting round the kitchen table. The lounge was also very comfortable and classic with a modern twist. Garden chairs were great for sitting in the sun ( yes, it did shine). Being so close to shops/pubs/cafes in Ballater was fabulous as well as great walks, runs, cycles straight from house too.
