I wasn't born in Dronfield, but have lived here for 10 years. It's a friendly Derbyshire village,5 miles (8 kilometres) from Sheffield and 7 miles (11 kilometres) from Chesterfieldd. It has a population of about 8,000.
I can't pretend that it's on any tourist map,but it does have the following: a modern shopping precinct,an olde-world High Street with a butcher's shop which dates from 1702 and some quirky roadside monuments which testify to its industrial past.It also boasts an industrial estate which has a reputation for being able to provide machine parts which, anywhere else, would be obsolete. If,for example, you were looking for a spare part for an old car/washing machine/cooker etc.Dronfield would be an excellent place to begin your search!!
Dronfield is also the home of what it claims to be the world's oldest football team,Sheffield F.C.
For eating and drinking,I recommend a pub called the Coach and Horses. It serves some unusual beers and wines and has a varied food menu.By no means is it cheap, but it's very popular, For Italian cuisine,Little Italy is worth a try.
