Fine if you drive but no way if you don’t! Very confusing city and there are a lot of new buildings that Google Maps haven’t registered yet. There just wasn’t a lot of things to do, Lakeside was nice as there was an event on but other than that it was just weird and SO quiet.
Newport Pagnell, the village, is adjacent to the new city of Milton Keynes. It is a pleasant English village, and a quiet counter-point to the busyness of the Centre of Milton Keynes - itself a wonderful green clean spacious well-designed modern City. Forget the silly throwaway uninformed comments about MK. It`s a cracking place, especially so to live there. So many other older cities and conurbations pale by comparison...
Very big city in terms of its footprint, but everywhere is connected by walkways which go under the roads so great for pedestrians and cyclists (although we saw very few cyclists, everyone was using electric scooters). Didn't see a great deal in terms of shopping or eating out since we were only there for a concert at the MK Dons Stadium.
Accommodation was adequate, booking . com information was rubbish, room was adequate but smelly , shower was an accident waiting to happen . We stayed here to see my stadium venue , description from booking .com was .9 of a mile from venue , we were 3 miles aprox , 10 minute drive , not late night walking distance
Stadium is good but food options on site are a joke. Not much of note for vegetarians & people with allergies beware - they don’t even cater adequately for gf eating. Taxi service is a horrific. Stadium road is closed for events so taxis can’t access. No WiFi outside arena after events due to huge numbers trying to access it & no taxi rank. If you’re not local you’ll struggle with transport. Didn’t visit anywhere else other than hotel & train station and won’t be rushing back tbh. Local people that we had dealings with were all nice & friendly.
Room was fine however shower head was lose so didn't use it. Safe wasn't working in room, car parking is extra £10 per night however 4 vehicles had their windows smashed and belongings taken the night before which left us feeling anxious, had to wait in lobby while our sofa bed was sorted out as reception were unaware we had booked and paid for a room with a sofa bed, one lift wasn't working and the other one that was working was very busy and also had a mind of its own. Loud and rowdy group of traveler's were ejected the night before for causing trouble however the ones that remained were also half way through being chucked out when we arrived. Upon leaving hotel to remove any valuables from our car due to the previous nights car break ins i sampled a few of the local kids walking past swearing and shouting whilst kicking over bikes and damaging 2 electric scooters that were chained up. Im no snowflake however trying to sleep at night with the window open listening to the Milton Keynes massive walking by was not an option! Swimming pool was good and staff friendly
Milton Keynes
Linda and Robin are always so lovely and welcoming and are always on hand to ensure the stay is comfortable. I had to work later than the check out time and they were so accommodating and allowed me to extend my stay by an extra 1-2 hours. The rooms are very spacious and clean. Very well laid out in a beautiful setting too. It’s peaceful, comfortable, clean and the beds are the root cause of some very deep sleeps. Cheaper than the hotels in Milton Keynes but head and shoulders above when it comes to service and comfort. Highly recommended.
The staff were friendly and the hotel is accomodating to children. The pool was brilliant for the children and the booking system they had in place for Covid worked well. The hotel is clean, staff are friendly and yes I'd stay again The hotel is close to Woburn Safari Park, which is brilliant and also close the Milton Keynes stadium where there is a retail park with restaurants and shops You can use WhatsApp to contact reception which is good. We requested towels and got them within 15 mins
Milton Keynes
When I arrived, I thought it was a big building, like a hotel. It was house in the middle of a housing estate. I did not think much to it. However, breakfast was brought to the room and there were tea and coffee making in the room. I did enjoy the breakfast which I was told was all free range from a farm. Bed was a small double and it was good enough for me to have a good sleep overnight. Room and bedding felt clean. Good value for low cost at £27 with a breakfast - you will not get it anywhere else!
Loved the extra small effort put in for my sons 5th birthday, slightly bigger room than the rest and a little note in our keycard holder. Breakfast was incredible too! One of the nicest hotel breakfasts we've had. Easy and simple to get, very well organised. The view from our room was lovely also, not the usual car park view, but a lovely scape of Milton Keynes.
Location was ideal and lots of restaurants and bars nearby. The hotel is very central to walk everywhere. Staff were very friendly. Check in process was smooth. I received an email prior to my arrival to check in online. Everything was super easy. They also have essentials that you can get like a bottle of water or packet of crisps right next to the reception.
I’m not fully familiar with Milton Keynes as I’m not from the area so I didn’t want to travel too far away from the train station, this hotel was easy to find and get to. Staff are helpful and friendly. Good value for money. My trip was planned last minute so was surprised to find a cheap hotel close by that had rooms available.
really comfy bed and generally just something a bit more quirky inside thank your run of the mill hotel. great wi-fi and very easy access. BUT what makes it are the brilliant staff, so friendly, bubbly and helpful. service with a smile after a busy day goes such a long way!
We requested two twin rooms near one another and the hotel was able to accommodate this. The rooms were very comfortable and well-appointed. All the staf we met on our visit were fantastic – striking the perfect balance between professional and friendly.
Best value for the money in Milton Keynes and a short walk to my corporate office. Very few people know that you can stay there. Free breakfast, use of fitness equipment, etc. was nice as well. Helpful, friendly staff. Tons of TV channels in the room.
The title is all I need to say, for a Hilton, appreciate it’s hard to ensure quality on a buffer but the sausages were undercooked etc. The hotel is beautiful however and will stay every month when I visit Milton Keynes for work.
Breakfast was very good with a vast selection on offer. Room was small but comfortable. Hotel was very nice with a nice quiet location close to Milton Keynes
Everything Spotless in the room and inside the hotel
