Holiday Inn Express Poole is 20 minutes' walk from Poole's ferry port with connections to France and the Channel Islands. air con was a massive plus, friendly and very accommodating staff helped with our toddlers travel cot above and beyond for us. The curtains were brilliant with the black out. The bed was really comfy. Room was located right next to lift and stairs which for us was really handy. The parking was really convenient and safe. Breakfast was brilliant with hot and cold food. The first hotel that ever stayed in on our trip to the UK that let us have a nice cooked breakfast! Others we had to have a continental bag delivered to our room door. Shower was lovely even the loo paper was super soft and not just a 1ply type! :) Most importantly you impressed the hubby.

I visited Poole for a show at The Lighthouse, a lovely venue close to the hotel and town centre, all an easy walk from the Dolphin shopping Centre, railway station and bus garage. I only stayed one night, so didn't see much beyond the town centre, but had a nice meal in the Brewhouse & Kitchen, which has some interesting vegetarian and vegan options, and suggests the appropriate beer to accompany your choice of food.
The first afternoon we had dinner at The Real Greek in Bournemouth. It was excellent food, and conveniently located in a centre with a reasonably priced parking. The second afternoon we went to Harry Ramsden's on the beach for Fish & Chips, and that was NOT a good experience. They mixed up orders and gave me chips with cheese (I cannot imagine who would want that) it was so disgusting I felt sick. The rest of my company also felt that the fish was too fatty, and no one finished their "food". The "food" was take away and I had thrown away the receipt so it was impossible to complain. Do yourself the favour to go somewhere else. Also, treat yourself with a play at the Pavillion students from Art University of Bournemouth do excellent performances that can be watched for little money.
The hotel was right by the chain link ferry... so it was easy to go across to Shell Bay. A lovely long walk to Knoll Beach and back. I explored the town centre of Poole which I didn't really like. Better to stay around the beach areas. Sandbanks is a lovely beach.
We took the bus from right outside the property and went to Poole Bus Station. We spent first day in Poole, lots to see and do - shopping, lunch, micro brewery, harbour. Next day got a bus and went to Bournemouth - had a brilliant day despite the raind and hail stone. Next day went to Poole and had a look around the bus ststion until we found a trip we liked the sound of and ended up going to Swanage (1 1/2 hours on the bus) which went trough some lovely places including going all the way round Corfe Castle, which was stunning. Found a brilliant 'Pie nd Mash' shop. Every one so friendly. We can't wait to visit again.
I thought the town was a bit shabby. Some interesting historical buildings and information plaques. Dined in a really nice, and oldest pub, called the Poole Arms c(1635), great seafood and very pleasant staff.
Room was nice and modern but the outside is looking very sad. Not a 4 star look to it. When we turned on the hot tap in the bathroom the water was brown and full of grit. I thought eating a meal in the restaurant did not include eating in the walkway. Not ideal place for a meal for the high price that was charged.
The Holiday Inn Express Poole is convenient for the main town shops and station, being about a 10 minute walk from both; it's about a 15 minute walk to the very interesting Quays area. It's also a 5 minute walk to the bus station, which has a comprehensive network of routes, ideal if you want to catch the No. 60 bus to Sandbanks! The hotel staff, from reception to dining area, were very friendly and helpful. The hotel was clean, comfortable and was Covid appropriate.
I expect a "boutique" hotel to offer something a litle special. Clearly, Covid has been a struggle for 2 years and you can do little about access through an old building. The carpets are looking very tired in places; the paintwork, though practical, makes progress through the narrow passageways uninviting and the lack of directions to "Reception" on leaving the room took us to the fire exit.
Poole
Due to my wife’s terminal cancer we,Went for an apartment rather than a hotel room This was the right decision it was warm and comfortable and my wife felt at home it’s a pity the weather wasn’t better. I would thoroughly recommend the apartments to anybody in my family I am going to a wedding next year in POOLE and the apartments will be my first choice to stay.
The room was attractive and comfortable and a better size than I expected from the website. The staff were friendly and helpful. The hotel was ideally located for the reason for our visit - a function at the Guildhall - and also for exploring old Poole. We enjoyed our visit and would stay at the Antelope again
Poole
Sarah's cottage was perfect... just what we needed for a long awaited break. The property met ALL our requirements ! Very clean all round... the beds and bedding were of above average quality and very comfortable. It was within easy reach of shops and Poole Quay. Hope to visit again
I particularly liked the quality of the breakfast selection and the location of the hotel, on the isthmus between Poole harbour and the Channel. It was pretty quiet, but it was early February.
Room was comfortable and clean. Good location near to Poole town, with beaches and parks nearby. Great stay for a few nights with the kids. Food/service at the hotel was very good.
Great location, close to the Poole Quay and the Boating Lake. Enjoyed the Project Climbing Centre and a day trip to Sandbanks Beach. Excellent breakfast and comfortable room.
Beautiful hotel. Fantastic location. Amazing staff and the food was exceptional. A brilliant little break. And only a 20 min drive to monkey world!
The hotel is in an excellent position looking out to Poole Harbour. We couldn't fault the room nor the breakfast. The staff were very good.
