Staff was very helpful in connecting with tour we scheduled for next morning. Staff went out of their way to understand my angst at not being able to connect with tour company. My husband could not go and he was graciously at no cost allowed to stay in room until 2pm when we left to connect with cruise.

Ideal location in the 'Peoples Square" close to the waterfront and many historical attractions. The spacious room with many historical features had a sofa and writing desk and large bathroom. Breakfast comprised of a choice of fruit, cereals, juice and a selection of hams and cheeses. The hotel also offered a more bespoke breakfast service for customers wanting a hot breakfast. Reception staff very helpful in advising customers about places to eat and drink as well as helping to organise visits to places around Split. The buggy transfer from the ferry to the hotel and bus station worked well in wet weather - an excellent added touch. Overall service by management and staff impeccable.

Stunning Split stands proudly on the eastern shores of the Adriatic Sea, and due to its great climate is called the Mediterranean Flower. It features eclectic architecture, spectacular views and delicious cuisine.
Split is centred around the ancient Roman Palace of the Emperor Diocletian, a magnificent building constructed at the beginning of the 4th century AD and boasting limestone and marble towers, columns and courtyards. It lies in a bay decorated with white sails of yachts, as sailing is definitely Split’s big thing!
The city is full of architectural gems, one of which is St. Duje’s Cathedral, the oldest cathedral in the world, built in 305 AD and combining both Roman and Catholic influences. Nearby Varoš is a must-see, one of the city’s oldest parts, full of charming streets and beautiful houses.
Make sure you visit the Bačvice Beach and the Riva promenade, popular with locals and full of cafés and palm trees. While on the hunt for local specialities, try soparnik - wood-fired dough filled with vegetables - or local soda drinks Pipi and Orela.
So just pack your bags and head to Split Airport! Booking.com has plenty of sunny apartments, friendly guest houses and well-appointed hotels for your Split adventure.
Wonderful city with a soul. Beatiful architecture, narrow, streets wit a lot of restaurants and shops. The food is top here: always fresh and very tasty. The weather in October was so nice, very warm but not too hot. You can still go swimming: the water is warm. It is worth to have swimming shoes because the beaches are rather stony. A lot of beatiful islands around, which you can visit by ferry. You can do it on your own: just go to the port and buy individual tickets, e.g. trip to Brac Island costs 6.5 euro one way.

Split is a fantastic city with lots of things to see, I definitely recommend a walking tour to hear about the history. 2 hours is enough, you can then go back and explore in more detail during the rest of your stay. A boat trip to Hvar is a must.

Split is a beautiful city and we really enjoyed wandering around the back streets. At certain times of the day it was very busy, particularly when the cruise ships were in, but we would find a small bar and have a drink until the crowds thinned out.
There were plenty of bars and restaurant recommendations online but we like to find places or ourselves, which we did.
Outside the old town and Riva there are plenty of local bars and restaurants offering better value for money.
Climb the Cathedral tower if you are ok with heights, but try go when it is not too busy as it is a bit of a free for all going up and down,

Split is a really interesting city to visit for at least 2 nights. The city was created when a Roman emperor built a palace here for his retirement in about 700 AD. During the middle ages, people moved inside the palace and built their homes within the palace to have the protection of the walls. So the old town is a fascinating hodge podge of Roman arches and columns with stone homes. Cars cannot enter the palace.
My recommendation is to stay just outside the old town in a hotel that is accessible by taxi and then you can walk to the old town. It is cheaper and you will have more space and most likely access to an elevator.
It's easy to walk everywhere. I enjoyed a walking tour of the old city. There were also various museums and you could walk up to a lookout point over the city. Several beaches are nearby.

Split is a great place to begin a tour of Croatia.
Split is a great place to begin a tour of Croatia. Easy to walk around and with plenty of interesting sights, history. We visited Trogir Island too (1 hour by ferry) although it is noisy at night! September (2nd half) is a good time to visit as it is still warm but not boiling hot. Plenty of places to eat in Split, also luggage storage. It is good for 2/3 days sightseeing, especially if you want to visit one of the islands on a day trip. We went North from here but there are buses going South to Dubrovnik and other towns too.

Park Marjon and the old town are obviously the highlights.
Park Marjon and the old town are obviously the highlights. Perhaps because we had previously visited Montengro (Perast, Kotor and Budvar), Dubrovnik, Korcula, Hvar and finally Split over the past 13/13 days, we found Split less appealing
Stayed 3 nights in the deluxe studio apartment which certainly lived up to its name. This place is simply gorgeous. Well laid out and beautifully furnished. Plenty of room for 3 people to stay, with both a double bed and sofa bed.
The bathroom is huge with one of the best walk-in showers I've ever experienced. Great communication with the property before and during my stay, including recommendations for local restaurants. An easy walk into the old town. This was one of my favourite places to stay in 2 weeks of travelling through Croatia.
The owners met with us to save our parking and handed our keys ! Super lovely ! Great recommendations she had . We absolutely loved the apartment it’s was nice , modern and clean . Everything was new , I loved the interior decorations what they done to apartment . It’s only a 15 minute walk to city centre . Maja even had drinks ready in fridge so good after being out in the heat . She showed us around the apartment and included a brief on split . It was our best accomodation in Croatia ! The apartment had everything you required !
Speedy and helpful communication
Solution and customer oriented service (they had a possibility to give me an early check-in)
Room was as described
Location in the middle of Diocletian Palace
Excellent price-quality ratio
I basically never eat dinner at the hotel, but when the one of the best rated seafood restaurants is located in the hotel you just have to indulge yourself. The food was the best seafood I sampled in Croatia and I got the best service!
The apartment has everything you need for a comfortable stay. Clean, modern facilities within a traditional Croatian building. The host is contactable and always replied (even suggesting a separate location where we could leave luggage) A short 5 minute walk will take you into the old town, 10 minutes and you’re at the port and 15-20 minutes to Jezinac beach a small beach with clear waters.
We were met by John the owner who is very friendly and helpful
Our room which was on the top floor was very clean and comfortable,
Shower is good,
It is an easy walk from the bus station, harbor ,old town, and train station,
A lovely rustic Croatian house
