My favourite places were the Nataraja Temple and Pichavaram...

My favourite places were the Nataraja Temple and Pichavaram Mangrove Forest. I ate at the hotel restaurant and nearby local restaurants. It is easy to get around Chidambaram using auto-rickshaws and taxis. A visit to the Nataraja Temple and a boat ride in the Pichavaram Mangrove Forest are great activities for families with young children.

Chidambaram Nadrajar Temple is one of the Pancha Bhooda...

Chidambaram Nadrajar Temple is one of the Pancha Bhooda sthalam dedicated to Lord Shiva in Tamil Nadu. This sthalam represents Aagaaym (Sky). You have Pitchavaram Boat riding at a distance of around 12 KM from here. Which is a mangrove forest, very few in India.

This temple town has three not-to be missed temples, those of - Lord Nataraja, Lord Govindaraja Swamy & Goddess Thillai Kali Amman [about 1.5 km from main temple]. One should read about these temples before visiting them as it is a life time opportunity for some to visit holy Chidambaram. Vegetarian food and transport are easily available. Minimum stay of 24 hours will be helpful.

The place is of a great significance for all Hindu devotees...

The place is of a great significance for all Hindu devotees like me because of the large wonderful temple of shiva and other small temples. The Natraja Temple has no brochure or any kind of information regarding the exact location of various temples situated within the huge complex.. The timings of various poojas are also not displayed. There are lots of touts and beggers harassing the devotees. It is an ancient temple and the pathways are made of hard stones which has sharp edges making it difficult to walk barefooted without being hurt especially for old people who visit it in large no. There is an urgent need for cleanliness and sanitation in and around the temple
