A friendly town - we stayed in the camper site which was great and then a return visit to stay in a hotel and we ate in the food hall which was nice with options and variety. We also did the Skyr tour in the basement of the food hall. I would add that a wider and more of the “taste” section would be nice. It’s a central spot to come back to or travel from and back if that suits your travel plans.
Great central location, to the golden circle. Great variety of eating options. Plenty of supermarkets places to shop for gifts. Clean and tidy. There is lovely walk along the river. Plenty of options for where to stay.
Selfoss has a sweet, mostly walkable, growing center that includes an easy, level river-walk. We found enough variety in the food hall to keep us well-fed and happy with the choices over several days. (It was recommended to us by a rental car agent at KEF. She was rightly enthusiastic about the tacos - and just about everything was solid!) Selfoss is also a great location near the Southern Coast for easy, varied day-trips - everything from amazing waterfalls to black-sand beaches, from otherworldly volcanic deposits to hot-springs, craters, and more. With Selfoss as our lodging spot, we could have happily explored for several more days.
Nice quiet town with more than just the waterfall. Plenty of places to eat and shop. Þingvellir national park is nearby with great views, hiking and (of course) several waterfalls. The fall colors were out during our visit the last week of September and only last a few days.
The Hotel South Coast is right in the middle of town near many nice restaurants and the Milk Factory food hall right next door. We chose to stay in Selfoss for out last night because it was less than an hour and half from airport. So stayed here instead of going back into Reykjavik which also cut off an hour from our drive on the afternoon of our last stay. It is a great location and also cheaper than Reykjavik. The town has a lot of options including shopping and eating and near a lot of things to see so you could even use this as a base for a South Iceland tour. We loved the town and our one night stay. Ate at Kaffi Krus which was delicious and adorable place to eat. Also in the food hall which was very nice.
Room was pleasant but faced the street, so there was noise. I had to open the windows to cool the room at night and the neighborhood stayed fairly busy until late. There's a lovely bakery next door to buy breakfast and a nice supermarket within walking distance. I was given a handicap room which had a flat shower with a wrap around curtain that got the whole floor wet. My partner's room faced a quiet courtyard and had a bathtub with a shower.
An incredible / unique experience! The Domes are fantastic as a structure, and the accommodations once inside were tremendous. The kitchen was fully equipped, the couch, chairs, table, and beds were all very comfortable. The wood burning stove was setup for use - and we used it and really enjoyed it at the end of a wonderful day. There's a huge deck around the dome, and nice hiking in the area, and even a small restaurant / convenience store just down the road. This was a highlight accommodation of the trip!
We liked the hotel a lot. The room was small but cosy, and the shared bathroom was clean. We liked the hot pools. The hosts are very friendly and offer a superb breakfast (not included, but the room's price without breakfast is cheaper than in other places, so it is worth it). The location is close to Selfoss, which is a great base to visit the Golden Circle. We recommend it and would definitely rebook.
Selfoss
Comfortable cabin and warm the whole night. To check in, we met with the host who welcomed us with Nero and Pluto the very friendly doggies :) Didn’t get to use the hot tub, the shower or kitchen, as we only stayed one night. Not far from Selfoss with lots of restaurants, although there is a fridge, kettle and crockery in the cabin if you don’t fancy the kitchen! Would recommend this peaceful place.
Selfoss
Conveniently located on the outskirts of Selfoss which is an unexpectedly attractive ‘buzzing’ little town. Lots of space and comfortable beds. The selection of pots and pans was a little haphazard but plenty of crockery and cutlery and, importantly, a kettle! The bathroom fixtures and fittings are a little dated but the washing machine was very useful. Friendly helpful owners.
Location : in the middle of Selfoss, we got the river view which was awesome. Room : Spacious and well equipped, bed was good, mini fridge, kettle....the basic things. Breakfast : good variety of selection. Hot & cold and continental. Restaurant : We did not dine at the restaurant but from the look of the menu it looked good. Staff : 100% on their game.
Selfoss
Secluded and serene. Love how the homes are built on their own individual mounds of grass allowing for separation and privacy from neighbours. The homes themselves are well equip and spacious with a beautiful shower. Property has 2 friendly dogs belonging to the family roaming around, who came up to greet us and play ball. Host was very welcoming and helpful.
we heard about Selfoss and though it will be great spot to spend the night. indeed, it is quite big city with all you need in terms of restaurants and supermarket. The hotel is prefect value for your money. clean, location is walking distance from everything, breakfast is great, nothing bad to comment. definitely good choice!
Selfoss
The apartments and located right on the ring road and close to supermarkets and restaurants. Keyless entry was well organised and effective. The apartment was spacious, kitchen was well appointed and there was a laundry with a washer and dryer.
Selfoss
Kitchen was very nice and I liked that all the bathrooms and showers were individuals rather than just stalls in a larger room. No bunk beds added to a feeling of comfort and spaciousness.
The location is approximately 14km from Selfoss. A car is essential for getting around. The Hotel is quiet and comfortable with most rooms having a patio area to use when weather permits.
Just the right size, spacious and practical. And in a great location for golden circle trips. Plus selfoss has loads of restaurants and bars and supermarkets
Selfoss
Enjoyed our stay here. Nice to have full apartment and living room space. Nice break from hotels.
