Lots of walking and great for nature lovers. The town was very quaint. We enjoyed the ropeway - get their early to avoid the expansive lines and they have many nice eateries all over the city. Bus was our mode of transportation and the shuttle from the hotel otherwise we walked 6 to 12 mi. per day to get around. The Wind Cave was okay definitely take the tour around the lake and go to the Gem Museum.

If you are looking for a boutique hotel that offers Western comfort and Japanese hospitality and traditions near Mount Fuji, Mizno Hotel is your place to stay. The views of Mt Fuji are phenomenal. The staff is truly amazing and on par with Amex Fine Resorts standards. We were pleasantly surprised by the amenities (shuttle service, electric bikes, private bath), which made our stay so much more enjoyable. Breakfast and dinner (Shabu Shabu) also exceeded our expectations. Highly recommend.

Beautiful lake, the pedestrian walk is doable (but note that you will be walking on the busy road at times). Great scenery all around, many food options (Cooliya was awesome!) Fun tourist activities like the road cable car - although the hike up was also fun!
Things open a bit later - but if prepared not a problem. Some things only open Thursday though so that was a drag as we were there M-W.
Would go back to tackle Fuji - but weather was unpredictable during our stay!

Great town for a day trip.
Great town for a day trip. Easy access to trains from/to Tokyo and hourly buses to Mt Fuji 5th station. Easy and cheap bus trip (45mins) to Mishima to catch Kyoto trains. Restaurants seemed to close at 3pm for an hour, so it is difficult to dine after 2pm. There's a sightseeing bus from the Kawaguchiko station, cost about $15 AUD.
We stayed one night to hike Mt Fuji.

The best part of Fujikawaguchiko was how close it was to Mount Fuji and the Five Lakes. We stayed for 3 nights since we wanted to climb Mount Fuji, but if you only want to see it then 1-2 nights should be enough. It's mostly a walking town, but there are some bus stops along the main road that work with an IC card (Suica, Pasmo, etc.).

Good for a relaxing one or two-day trip.
Good for a relaxing one or two-day trip.
The air is refreshing and there are many nice parks where you can relax and enjoy the view of Mt.Fuji if the clouds are being cooperative.
A lot of great hotels to relax at and excellent restaurants.
I am not sure the Fuji Five lakes transportation pass is worth it unless you plan on changing locations quite often and plan to stay several days. Unlike the Hakone Frepass, it does not include any ropeways, only the buses and trains.
Kawguchiko is easier to drive around and access with a car than Hakone. Fujikawaguchiko feels less cramped and more open than Hakone, which is a bit more nestled into the heavily forested mountains.

breakfast is good, not mind blowingly good but good and plentiful. Room is very clean and very bright. I like the cleaninless of the room. And private onsen is nice too. Unfortunately there is not much amenities in the hotel. If this is a different ryokan (japanese hotel), they may have other public baths where you can try different baths with different views which makes staying in the hotel more amenable. We're bored staying in the hotel with nothing to do. So we are kind of forced to explore the area.
Right near the lake. We had a room with Western and Japanese room, with the fuji Mt view. We enjoyed our stay. The staff are very nice. If you have any ?, just ask. They speak good English and very helpful.
Shuttle bus pick-up at anytime you arrive. Just go to the information centre, with 300 yen in hand, they will make a call for you to notify the hotel. Thank you for the lady at the reception desk. You are wonderful.
The view from the room window is breathtaking, the Fuji changes every moment and you can follow from your bed. The service was top level, breakfast really nice. We also liked the atmosphere of the hotel, not Japanese entirely but very homely and elegant at the same time. We rented the bikes (free) and rode around the lake. You should not miss the rooftop bar and the private bath on the roof either. Both amazing.
Very nice hotel, the room we stay was the Japanese style one, it was very nice and sleep in a footon was very nice and comfortable, the yukata was the best I used in Japan. The room was a bit old and need some maintenance but it was very clean and comfortable. The view at night was splendid, we can see the lake while drinking the
Room is clean & spacious enough for 3 of us, near to the the lake and just oppsite the Music Forest Museum. Hotel is just above a family mart so it is very convenience for snacks & breakfast and there is a bus stop in front of it. We are able to see Mt Fuji from the room window too. Bed is comfortable too.
