This is a charming and wonderful little hotel in the middle of a stunning natural beach teeming with nature and wildlife. Breakfast is a delicious Japanese set meal that varies slightly daily, and the hotel will do delicious home cooked set meal dinners if you order by 5 pm (strongly recommended). The beautiful natural beach and bay it’s on has spectacular sunsets and you can see fish bats birds and an incredible array of crabs. The folks that run it are incredibly kind and helpful. You are in the middle of nowhere in the best possible sense, so bring a good book, camera, and binoculars and prepare to deeply relax。 The beach is very shallow at low tide but swimmable at high.

The Ilmare has one of the best views of any of the Iriomote hotels. There are a number of nearby restaurants to choose from. The staff helped us out a couple of times and the transfers to a from the ferry terminal worked well.

The landscape and facilities were beautiful and clean. The staff worked hard to ensure the needs of all guests were taken care of. They even helped call to make dinner reservations and provided a shuttle around the northern part of the island.

The hostel owner was so kind and helpful with our trip to Iriomote. She went above and beyond by picking us up from the ferry port and helping with recommendations. The room is simple, island accommodation but the shared common room is very nice with instruments and books. Kitchen was nice to use to make some food if we wanted. Extra fuzzy blankets free to use if you got cold in the night. Check out the stars at night! Also, FREE bike rental. What more could you want? Definitely check out the Co-op store down the street; delicious fresh food after 11am try the taco rice!!! We really loved Iriomote it was so peaceful and special. Our favorite island. Do visit and this hostel will serve you right!!

The location is just a few minutes walk from the ferry, which is very convenient. The family hosts are very friendly and helpful. We wanted to book a day tour to Pinaisara Waterfall for the next day, yet the tour bookings were full. The lady host managed a day tour to Geda Waterfall and a mangrove kayaking with pick-up service, which is wonderful. They also helped us to call for a reservation at the nearby Hanba restaurant. The tatami room is clean with a nice balcony, and the room size is perfect for two people. Also, the Japanese-style breakfast is simply delicious. We enjoyed our stay at this guesthouse.
