These hotels in Kep are highly rated by couples: Vakara Hotel Kep, TARA LODGE Haven of peace, and Bird of Paradise Bungalows.
Of all the cities and villages we went to in Cambodia, Kep was definitely one of our favourites. It was very quiet when we were there (Tuesday thru Saturday), we heard it gets busier on the weekends but can’t really say for sure. It was easy to walk around, there’s a large and beautiful national park that starts in town, the bay, just so many lovely things. Visit the crab market and then go eat. Aim to be at one of the restaurant patios for sunset and crab dinner, freshly caught.
PINA house was great, nice bunch of people taking care of you, great coffee croissant spaghetti italian style. Great simple accommodation hot water TV, YouTube, big bed, towels and service. Recommended and safe ,rental bike available.cambodian style shop down the road. Kep is a must, nothing to do but enjoy the crab and squid in green pepper sauce, stunning sunset, trip to small island, trip to pepper plantation, just cruise.....
I stayed 2 months at "Atmaland Resort": THE best Bungalow's I've encountered ,not only in Kep, but Sth East Asia! ( I wrote a lengthy 'review' of Atmaland : and MISTAKENLY stated : " I did NOT LIKE anything" ,when, of course I meant :" There was ,honestly, nothing I DISLIKED ,about "Atmaland Resort" ! The latter was a frank/honest assessment! (Strange it is: how ONE incorrect word : changes all!) ) But: Kep: I have been to, many times: maybe TOO quiet for many: but I like/enjoy Kep, very much: Covid hit hard there ,of course, and new developments are changing its 'face', to a degree: most locals think it's inevitable, naturally: but overall, for their econmony...maybe, for the good ,rather than the 'bad' ! Kep: still maintaining, as much as possible: the natural beauty of their National Forest/Park, areas: installing bike/walking tracks, etc! The famous "Crab Market": still struggling :lack of tourism, but for mine: right on the South China Sea: ideal, for a quiet drink/meal! (But very quiet, still!).If you enjoy walking: all facilities are close enough to most Guest Houses, etc, and of course, a tuk tuk is ALWAYS available! For/if : a relaxing/quiet 'fishing village' atmosphere, is your 'go' : Kep is THE place!
We originally planned to stay for nights but fell in love with it so much decided to stay for another 3! The Kep National park is beautiful, and we saw lots of monkeys!! I would recommend getting a moped because the park is so big it would take you days on foot. Kep is a lovely little seaside town and everyone is so friendly, there are so many beautiful spots to visit.
In my opinion, Kep is the best city on the coast in Cambodia. There are many attractions here. There are rocks and caves, pepper plantations, a fish market and very tasty fresh crabs - it's true. Kep is much better than other cities by the sea in Cambodia.
Good point is that the beach is enough to be relaxed and relatively clean. It's not so much crowded. And Crab market is wonderful place to enjoy fresh seafood mainly like crab, squid and shrimp which are so tasty. Both location are very easy to access from accommodation area. The bad point (but acceptable) is that most of people at the beach and the market don't understand English. Only Khmer language can work.
The location is superb; the hotel is situated over the esplanade from the best beach in Kep and not far from Kep Deli where one can get a good French breakfast or lunch. Several good pizza shops are nearby, including Bella Pizza - very good and with delivery! The hotel has very attentive staff and a French owner who is exceptionally helpful. The chef here also serves tasty meals at a very reasonable price. The monkeys in the rainforest out the back are an interesting bonus.
This hotel was so nice and peaceful to stay in. We ended up for two days mostly being at the pool but the first night we had dinner at the hotel restaurant. We had crab curry and salad. the best location and best place to stay in Kep!! 5 minute walk to the crab market + restraunts and close the the national park for a walk at sunset!! Danny and the staff were all SO lovely and helpful. would recommend !!!
