Quiet town but beautiful beach. Try Healing Beach for a meal when you are there. Must play their fire crackers in the evening, it is fun. Oh, along the beach there is a Mega Coffee Cafe which makes nice Tiramisu Coffee. It is a must try.
The place is ideal for enjoying the beach, the many cafes with awesome views and the food market. Public transportation is a bit sparse, but walking around is really nice and there are plenty of taxis.
A really nice beach resort with plenty to do for a couple of days. The beach and water are gorgeous. Wide white sand beach for as far as the eye can see and clear, clean water. The lake behind is also a nice place to stroll and hire a bike. There are plenty of coffee shops and convenience stores located along the beach front with a wide selection of Korean restaurants and sushi bars. The only thing missing from this resort, and seemingly all the resorts along the East Coast, is any type of night life. There are no bars to speak of and the night life is really just sitting on the beach and drinking and picnicking. The restaurants are good but are limited to Korean and mainly raw fish. This is a wonderful place to see how the Koreans choose to spend their leisure time but it is not like a western resort would be in such a beautiful place. Some of its simple charm really.
I recommend renting a car if possible and driving around places nearby Gangneung. For example to Seoraksan and take the cable car up or nearby beaches. Me and my friends where there for 2 days and had a blast. We are definitely coming back during summer when it's warm to visit all of the beaches and to swim in ocean. Even though we sat in the car a lot Korea is still a beautiful country and just seeing it from the highway was really beautiful.
They have it all. The beautiful blue blue sea. The history to share with others, friendly people and delicious food. I loved to visit Ojukheon, and Seongyojang Residence. Anmok cafe street was amazing.
Gangneung is a fantastic alternative to the touristy and busy bigger cities in South Korea. It is quickly and easily connected to Seoul by KTX train. Getting around Gangneung is easy too. KakaoMaps app has public transport directions data, and the T-Money card works onboard the buses too. Gangneung is well known for some foods, especially the soft tofu soup, delicious. People here are familiar with foreigners (they did indeed part host the Winter Olympics), but since then I imagine there are not too many travellers. Therefore it seems they are enthusiastic to see some more again! The market is great too. I also took 2 buses to get the location of the cross country skiing/biathlon centre. It took perhaps 2 hours in total to get there, and a fantastic trip. The beach is also nearby, with a massive "Coffee Street" full of cafes to enjoy the beachside sun. Even just taking a beer on the beach is nice, and to get away from the busy-ness. I highly recommend Gangneung!
The owner was super nice and considerate to us like a close uncle of you family. The room was pretty the same as on photos, towels, hairdryer and other stuff were provided and renewed everyday. The location of hotel is the best to travel either by bus or taxi, since KTX station and bus terminal is pretty close. And the best point is the american style breakfast buffet. Very delicious.
Location : Near Gangneung express bus terminal. Around 10 minutes by bus and stop in front of the hotel. Many restaurants and cafes near the hotel Staff : Kind and I appreciate that they upgraded my room without any additional expenses. Room: Very clean and comfortable. The hotel has beautiful rooftop where you can see Gangneung city.
The hotel is not too big which is a great thing because staff is able to help in many ways and very attentive to our needs. We didn’t speak the language but they were very kind and helped us when we had questions. My husband and I were able to relax.
The room was very nice, with a balcony to the side of the beach. It was noise isolated, so it was easy to sleep at night, even with strong waves outside. The location was great, with an electric vehicle charging station nearby.
Located right by the beach with Gyeongpo-ho directly behind. Some of the friendliest staff, amply space in the room, free vending machine for drinks, and massage chairs one can use for free on site. Great stay!
The locations was ideal. Many restaurants nearby and it’s a 3-minute walk from the beach. The staff was very friendly and helpful. I really enjoyed staying here, would probably come again.
Breakfast was not available we assume because of Covid although I have stayed in other Korean hotels that have managed a reduced breakfast.
Close to the Beach, helpful parking people.
right in the beach
We stayed at Hotel BomBom for only a short time, but we found the whole process very easy and comfortable. Parking was not an issue for us, check in went very smoothly, and the room was very comfy. The bathroom was also quite large and this was a nice plus at the end of a long day!
Ironically, location. Excellent for relaxing..
