Many families visiting Daejeon loved staying at Le Stendal Hotel, Good Morning Residence Hue, and LOTTE City Hotel Daejeon.
I only get to travel for a day so I cannot really describe Daejeon. But from research, I would definitely love to come back and try more things. I took the City Tour Bus and it is quite different from other city tour buses I have tried in Korea. Daejeon City Tour Bus has "theme" per day and you get to travel with a group. One bus will be waiting while you go around the place and we also had our own tour guide. Maybe it is only on weekdays and on weekends you get to go to different places on your own pace.
It may have just been where we stayed near the Expo centre, however there doesn't seem to be much to do at all within Daejeon. We used it as a point to break up our road trip south. The area we stayed in was a complete ghost-town, and Daejeon O-World (the park and zoo) was a bit disappointing. It was an interesting experience (some very weird architecture), however would only recommend it as a quick stopping point and not as a place to spend a lot of time.
Not far from Seoul. I recommend you to trip by '우등고속(express bus)'. It's the most comfortable way to visit Daeseon. Even bus terminals both in Seoul(Gangnam) and Daejeon have lots to see. Daejeon has the most famous bakery in Korea, Sungshimdang and many other famous regional food restaurants. 'Kalguksu' and 'Tofu Duruchigi' shouldn't be missed here. If there's a baseball match, try to go and enjoy. Even if you are not a fan of baseball, you can still enjoy the atmosphere and variety of snacks in the stadium. Booking in advance is essential for the match.
Daejeon isn’t the prettiest city. But it has some great site to see such as the hot springs and the light show, plus the market. It is very close to an excellence national park and other good areas to see in the region. It makes a good base to explore.
Daejeon is an interesting city because it has the most efficient transportation hubs but does not seeming have enough to do while their. You can reach almost any city/ town in Korea from their. It is known for it Spa's and transportation. It is a city that should be visited as a layover but not your primary sightseeing location.
Enjoyed the slower pace in Daejeon without scarifying the convenience of Seoul. The exit of Jungangno Subway Stn brings you into an underground shopping mall which links you directly to Sky Road, the central shopping attraction of Daejeon where you’ll find the famous SungSimDang Cake Boutique. If you continue yr shopping journey towards the river, you’ll find the huge all-in Daejeon Jungang Tradition Market. Enjoyed the experience of the day to day lifestyle of the locals. YuSeong Subway Stn brings you to YuSeong Hot Spring area. There’re many Spa hotels in the area. You’ll also find a free public foot spa park near YuSeong Stn. It’s crowded in the morning & evening even during winter. Soaking your feet in the warm hot spring water in the open during winter is really a weird feeling for someone from the equator... The SinPung Ginseng Restaurant nearly the park serves yummy, all ginseng dishes. Must try their tempura ginseng! Enjoy a walk beside the river after your meal and enjoy the view :) Will surely visit Daejeon again.
Very clean and well maintained. A great value for the price. Family-friendly. Great breakfast.
