The location was perfect. It was wonderful to be right on the main plaza and we could easily walk to areas we wanted to see. It can be noisy at night with lots of activity and music but was fairly quiet after 11pm. On the weekends I would suggest asking for an inside room to avoid too much noise. The staff were all so helpful and welcoming. We particularly enjoyed talking with Rey.

If I were twenty years younger, I would enjoy the charm of the narrow roads and sidewalks. Some of them are on steep inclines. There is a lot of culture here, and did enjoy the opera at the Teatro Juarez. It has a lot of history that creates crowds.

An amazing cultural and vibrant town.

An amazing cultural and vibrant town. So beautiful and historic. This should be a must visit for anyone planning to visit Mexico. Narrow winding cobbled street. Vibrant colored buildings. Underground tunnels, statues and churches. On top of that a great night life and restaurants.

This city--with its network of underground tunnels and roads...

This city--with its network of underground tunnels and roads, silver mines, colonial wealth and heritage, and university dominance--is a unique Mexican gem unlike any other. Great vibe. Wonderfully walkable, like Oaxaca and San Miguel de Allende--and less touristy!

Any visitor to Mexico should see Guanajuato at least once...

Any visitor to Mexico should see Guanajuato at least once for its extraordinary colourful homes built into the steep mountainsides, beautiful architecture, churches and public squares. For me, though, it was too touristy, and the restaurants we tried were generally overpriced and underwhelming. One exception was an excellent breakfast at the central market, where we followed the locals queuing for food. Be prepared for some serious walking. Guanajuato is extremely steep, with endless steps, narrow lanes and alleyways climbing up the hillsides. You need a reasonable level of mobility and fitness to explore it comfortably. We visited Diego Rivera’s birthplace and museum, which gave us a much better understanding of his art and cultural heritage. Overall, I’m glad we visited Guanajuato. It is an extraordinary place and absolutely worth experiencing, even though I personally wouldn’t choose to stay for an extended period.

A great place to unwind and rest.

A great place to unwind and rest. Rise early morning, go for a walk, have coffee and breakfast, walk down in the centro for the day, take tramvia or turibus guided tour, watch mummies and mines, catch up with a late lunch, and enjoy beautiful sunset and dinner.

I had looked at Youtube videos about Guanajuato city, but...

I had looked at Youtube videos about Guanajuato city, but they do not do justice to the entire city. Not just down town, but all the callejones and a choice I made to walk the Panoramica calle, around the city. The views of the city from different sites was amazing, but it was the mountains that rose up around you. They were stunning. I would recommend people to take a walk along the Panoramica, even it is only 40 minutes. The views are amazing which include the ruins of old stone factories, For me the downtown was great, but the views and walking around the city was the best.

The staff were exceptional with a special thanks to Richard, Alex and Anna who went above and beyond to make us feel at home. They were very knowledgeable about Guanajuato and were very very ready to suggest local points of interest, restaurants and generally make our stay so enjoyable. The hotel was very elegantly and comfortably furnished and the location was right on the main square. Once inside, the hotel was a quiet and peaceful haven from the bustling outdoors of the Guanajuato square.

Incredible central location. Literally in Centro. But not noisy. Had a balcony where we could enjoy a coffee and watch the city go by. Huge room, big beds, lots of space and storage. Rooms cleaned daily, really well. Breakfast included was a buffet. All fresh and delicious. Water fountains on site for fresh filtered drinking water and the wifi is fast.

The service was pleasant from start to finish. We were genuinely impressed that the staff spoke English, which can often be a challenge in Mexico. A big advantage was the option to check in late and check out as late as noon. Breakfast was included in the price, and it was excellent — fresh juice or a fruit plate, coffee, and chilaquiles.

Very beautiful and comfortable hotel with friendly staff. The neighborhood is lovely with a parc and a lake very closeby (5 min walk). Good restaurants on walking distance. It’s a 10min drive from the city center. Rooms are very comfy, modern, clean. You get bathrobes and slippers. Good AC, good wifi, very comfy beds and pillows.

Beautiful, quite location in a hill ovelooking Guanajuato, yet only 15 min by taxi (inexpensive) to go down to the center. We stayed in a large, very comfortable apartment, with a large terrace, full kitchen, all very comfortable. The hotel in general is very nice.
