Hotel Refugio41, Mayan Majesty Boutique Hotel, and Hotel Posada San Juan got great room view-related reviews from travelers in Valladolid.
The city is small and most important things to see are located downtown. One must see the canter square. There is nightly entertainment and Mayan dancing. Take a bus tour of the city which highlights the many churches around the center. There are many restaurants highlighting delicious Mayan cuisine. I highly recommend tasting this awesome food. Of course outside the city you will find the Cenotes and the Mayan sites. I recommend more people go to Ek Balam and then take in a cenote or two. The water will be a welcome relief after, as it is very hot most times of the year. If you like birds then this is the place to see and hear their beautiful songs. Look for the Motmot birds around the Cenotes. Long beautiful blue tail with striking coloured plumage of greens and blues. They like the caves and water. You will also hear the Harmonious Blackbird. Gorgeous song and has quite the vocabulary. Go to the the center square at dusk and listen to the birds getting ready for night. It is crazy! The people were very friendly and welcoming. Please try to speak some Spanish as English is not as prevalent here. It is still not a tourist trap thankfully. A trip of two the three days here will be enough to see and do everything.
We spent 5 days to visit the region. It is ideally located to visit Yucatán, from chichen itza to Rio lagartos. The city is quiet, safe with nice restaurants to finish the day. It offers great variety of activities
Pretty city centre. Lots of attractions nearby so it’s a good base to explore Chichén Itza or Ek Balam and a number of cenotes too. There is also a free walking tour in town which gives a brief history of the Valladolid. Downsides is that it seems to be very popular for day trips so many tour buses/coaches parked around centre square. It can get busy with traffic. You can get to Valladolid by public transportation but you might need a car/taxi to get to cenotes and Mayan ruins. Loved the little restaurant right behind cathedral,Carpe Diem. It has some tasty tacos and fresh juices.
Valladolid is a lovely colonial Yucatan city. Not as spectacular as Merida, but very enjoyable. Low key and approachable. Casa de Los Venados is a private folk art collection that is open to the public via tours that ask for a donation at the end. A hidden treasure that is not to be missed. www.casadelosvenados.com
I really enjoyed the visit to Casa de los venados and a couple of tiny museums we accidentally stumbled upon. Great food at the rooftop terrace of El Mesón del Marques. Very nice atmosphere in the restaurant downstairs, but we did not have time to try it. Nice zócalo in front of the cathedral. Easy to walk around the small city center. We also enjoyed the free, outdoor video show about the history of Valladolid.
Having studied in Vallaodlid Spain, I was very interested in spending time in Valladolid Mexico. We thoroughly enjoyed all that the city had to offer from shopping to eateries as well as some history. We especially enjoyed the Municipal market. Valladolid made a great hub for travel in the region as we enjoyed day trips out to Chichen Itza and EkBalam as well as a few cenotes. If you are looking for a more authentic Yucatan experience, with a little less of a tourist vibe like the coastal cities, I highly recommend this city. We found the people to be friendly and just enjoyed being a part of the city life for a few days.
Valladolid
The location of the hotel is perfect, just a few minutes walk to the center. The host was so kind and helpful and guided us on the sites and routes to take while there. The hotel is beautifully decorated and there is a surprise rooftop terrace with a little pool/bath to relax and a fridge to keep your drinks etc while relaxing on the terrace. The breakfast is AMAZING - the vegetables are organic and from the host’s farm and the bread and jam are homemade and delicious. Anyone visiting Valladolid should try to stay in La Flor!
The staff were incredibly accommodating and helpful. The entire grounds of the hotel far exceeded our expectations. The pools, dining area and cleanliness of the rooms and grounds were very apparent. The manager was onsite every day and checked in with staff and guests to make sure everything was running smoothly. We had alot of fun walking around and exploring Valladolid and were close to everything (centro, bus station, grocery store, taco stalls). We would go back and stay again in a heartbeat!
This is my favourite hotel in Valladolid, it's got a fantastic courtyard and an old-world feel to it. If you get one of the upgraded rooms then you get a view of the cathedral from your bathroom in the front and the courtyard and swimming pool in the back. The restaurant is AMAZING and I've literally stayed in this place several times just to come and eat here! Make your way through local Yucatan dishes.
This is a great place to base yourself for exploring Valladolid and beyond to the cenotes and ruins of the area. The hotel is a short walk to the main square which makes location prime. They also have free parking for guests if you have a rental car like we did. Rooms were clean, AC was cold, showers hot and the pool was an added bonus. Water refills on site too.
The hotel is beautiful and well located in the centre of Valladolid. The beds were comfortable, the room spacious and we appreciated the communal seating areas as well. The staff also provided us with a larger-than-expected breakfast to suit our early check-out, and provided helpful advice on meal options in the town. There was also plenty of secure parking.
Excellent value hotel in a brilliant town centre location. The room was nice and spacious and the bed was massive. Toiletries and coffee machine were provided. A special mention to the staff who were extremely polite and helpful. The hotel also has a car park which is a little further down the street. Great base for exploring Valladolid.
Beautiful little place on most picturesque street in Valladolid. Staff extremely polite and helpful, prepared us a wonderful breakfast very early in the morning when we were heading to Chichen Itza. Road gets a little noisy but that’s not the hotel’s fault. Stunning gardens in the back
Valladolid
Lovely hotel managed by a lovely family that puts a lot of efforts in maintaining it and making you feel like at home. Breakfast is amazing to start the day. Perfect to discover Valladolid! Would recommend it to anyone staying in the city.
The hotel is just next to the Cathedral in city centre, so its very central. The swimming pool is amazing, my daughter enjoyed it a lot. The room is basic but clean. If I go back to Valladolid i would definitely stay here again.
Nice clean room with comfortable bed. The only drawback was not much hot water which I understand is common at other small hotels in Valladolid. Would stay again if I return to Valladolid
This was a nice hotel, close to the central area of Valladolid. The landscaping and hotel are beautiful. The room, bathroom and shower were enormous!
Very welcoming hotel close the center of Valladolid and right next to the cenote. Very helpful frontdesk and staff in general.
