Desert Wonders Camp is located on Eastern Sands that stretches from Eastern Hajars to the Arabian Sea. Lit by lanterns, the camp offers Bedouin-style accommodations with tents. A very special place with excellent services. Yhe owner Naseer is a really kind person and he tries to help for any need a guest may have. Highly recommended.
Starwatching Private Camp is located 18 mi from the village of Bediyah, amid the dunes of Wahiba Sands. The property has 2 luxury tents that come with separate seating and dining areas. We had an incredible stay at the Starwatching Private Camp. The drive through the desert to reach the camp was breathtaking and lots of fun, the camp was beautiful and hidden between dunes, both dinner and breakfast were delicious, tents and bathroom were luxurious and clean, and last but not least: we had the best sleep in a long time. The staff was super friendly and helpful, even gave us recommendations for our route the next day. Long story short: do yourself a favour, rent a 4WD to self-drive (don't worry, it's guided and pretty easy!) and come spend at least one night in this wonderful camp. Don't forget to enjoy the sunset over the dunes and just enjoy the tranquillity you'll find there!
Set in Al Rakah, the oasis of Sharqiyah sands, Home X4 offers accommodations with a flat-screen TV, a kitchen and free private parking. Some units include a seating area and/or a balcony. Amazing place to stay! The apartament was new and very clean. There was a beautiful view from the balcony. Great location near the desert and about 50 min from Wadi Bani Khalid. We have booked a dinner, which we ate in the middle of the dunes on the desert camp. It was a wonderful experience! We also took camels riding in the morning. The owner was very nice and helpful. I highly recommend this place. We will definitely come back there.
Located in Shāhiq in the Al Sharqiyah region, Alsarmadi Desert Camp features accommodations with free private parking. The accommodations has a hot tub. We spent 3 nights around Christmas at Alsarmadi with our 3 daughters and it was such a wonderful and impressive experience! The location is stunning, in the middle of the desert with beautiful dunes that you can hike and walk at any time, the tents are beautiful and clean and with all necessary amenities, the food is delicious - but above all: the hosts were incredibly welcoming and friendly and ensured we had everything we needed! Every morning we woke up to view the sunrise and every evening to view the sunset before Hilal and his team served us fresh coffee and dates and cooked dinner in a traditional way (on an open fireplace!) and even showed us how to make bread in a traditional way - the girls and we absolutely loved it! Thanks again so much to Hilal, Said, Salar and their wonderful team for this experience! We will be back for sure!
We opted for the camp closest to the city of Bediyah. At the gas station, on the right, there is a small wrap/sandwich/juices shop that for less of 1 OMR, you can eat & drink. A stop is recommended.
Hawiyah is the place where most of the desert camps are so tourists can have a desert experience.I have seen more spectacular desert settings in Abu Dhabi and Morocco and Tunisia, but if you do a trip of Oman, Hawiyah is on the road from Nizwa ( a-must-visit city in Oman) to Sur (on the coast). From there you can return to Muscat along Wadi Shabi. So if you do this circle then definately have a one night stop over in a desert camp, it fir perfectly in this route. Enjoy the sand dunes and tranquility!
Using the GPS coordinates, it's easy to find from Bidyah, some 12km along the sand and gravel road after the black top stops. Best have a 4x4 or a strong car! Very friendly welcome, no rushing around, kawa, dates, halwa, fruit, always available. Obaid the owner who is of Bedouin background will make whatever arrangements he can for your stay. The staff Abbas and his colleagues are great, and the bonus is to meet and sit with Obaid's family. Facilities are those of a camp, comfortable and more than adequate. Sunset and sunrise over the dunes are unforgettable, and the sound of complete silence under the dark sky. Food is simple, barbecued chicken, lamb, with salads, humus. Plenty tea, coffee, water, juice. Take with you a good torch, it is very dark at night and electricity is by generator for 4hours in evening. Great! No tv no Internet, just peace! You may also want to take some energy bars or other snacks, as we tended to be out all day. We chose to visit Wadi Bani Khalid about 40km from the camp but there are other places too.
Enjoy tranquility in the desert with many activities. If you want to go camping, just bring your own food or buy it before get in in Bidiya village. If you stay in accomodation, They might provide dinner or breakfast. This place is just only 200 kms from muscat which is just around 2 hrs from Muscat. Your kids can enjoy camel riding or buggy riding in the desert. For adults, you can enjoy seeing the stars or go for dune bashing.
