Featuring a restaurant, Llanganuco Mountain Lodge offers accommodations in Yungay. Rooms at Llanganuco Mountain Lodge are spacious and cozy. Each features a private bathroom and mountain views. This place is amazing in every way! You totally feel at home here. Charlie is a gracious, fun, easy going, kind and helpful host. Luis’ culinary creations are not only delicious, but healthy and fresh! I am a vegetarian and he had no problems making my special meals in addition to the other guests. Charlie sits down with you when you first get here and goes over all of the amazing hikes available in the area. He even sets up everything you need, from taxi’s to guides- he just wants to share his love of nature and immense knowledge of the Llanguanuco area. The scenery and hiking is surreal. Each day the hikes got better and the trails are fairly easy to follow, but with Charlie’s maps and instruction guides, you will have no problem! It is clear how much Charlie cares for his community and guests alike. I was able to meet some amazing fellow tourists and breakfast and dinner conversations were never lacking! The Lodge itself is absolutely gorgeous! The rooms are comfy and the views are incredible! The main house is set up to further your relaxation after the hikes. There are hammocks surrounding the main grass area, as well as Adirondack chairs- just be sure to bring plenty of sunscreen (you will burn if you aren’t wearing it- trust me! 🙄). There is always tea ready to drink (cocoa tea helps with acclimating to the altitude). The best part is the water is safe to drink from the tap! As if all of this isn’t great enough, you will be greeted by the best Rhodesian Ridgeback Titon (my boy!!). I was not able to meet Charlie’s other dog (and his name escapes me right now) because he was at the vet. Titon is the sweetest dog and enjoys being pet and laying in the sun. It will be very difficult to leave him and the lodge... I already can’t wait to come back!

This area would be more of a stopping point to acclimate before hiking through the national park. Unless you want extreme quiet time then this would not be a spot that you spend more than a couple of days at.
