Lima was an OK stop but other parts of Peru are much better to visit. The old town and the waterfront around Miraflores is nice, but can be a bit overpriced. Be aware that some areas are not safe and taxi drivers are very likely to rip you off. You can visit Lima on the cheap but for more comfort and peace of mind, stick to the recommended safe areas and arrange transport from your hotel or use Uber if possible.
Everyone should see Lima at least once, but not spend more than 2 days there. The city is famous for its gastronomic culture & wonderful museums. However, Lima is enormous & has serious traffic congestion issues, so it's difficult to get around. I highly recommend visiting Museo Larco for the fascinating pre-Columbian art; the Inka Market for interesting souvenirs, & the Indian Market for cheap souvenirs.
Has some beautiful suburbs and sea-facing locations; Mira Flores and Barranco are especially 'not to be missed' suburbs. City historic center, Magic Fountain Water Park and the various museums are other great attractions
Lima was great city l loved but quite expensive city and everything is uselessly expensive more than its real worth as l am a businessman and travel more than 30 countries. I am telling you This high excessive price for everything will create rexession soon or later .... l am a good observer .Too many constructions in the ciry and those will emerge many expensive flats more than affordable for either rent or sell so that many unsold and unrent flats will be available like in Dubai than guess what .....
I must tell it like it is. Getting around Lima is not easy because traffic is horrible and there are too many cars and too many people, this is a reflection of Manhattan, NY. If patience is your virtue and you do not bring any preconceived ideas you will enjoy it. We stayed around Larcomar, subsequently we walked along Costa Verde almost every afternoon. We visited the Government palace, the Basilica Cathedral, the Plaza Mayor with the Mira Bus Company, La Punta in el Callao, Plaza Vea,Wong, Metro Supermarkets. We used the Subway, the Autobuses, Micro buses and Taxis for transportation. We ate out good seafood every evening in different restaurants etc...
Airport is terrible. Crowded, no where to sit. Very late departure and long wait for flights with no where to sit. Overall, third world type airport operation. Getting around lima is not easy. Busses are very crowded, not modern busses. City has no subway or tram. Taxi is only decent way, but not terribly expensive.
I’ve stayed in different hotels in Lima before, and Selina is the best one so far. In the very center of Miraflores, very funky design, vibrant atmosphere. My room was quiet, very big and clean, very comfortable. I had an access to common kitchen also big and very clean every time I used it (only to make a cup of tea, but it was nice to have this opportunity). The stuff is amazing, kind, nice, very helpful. Highly recommended place to stay. A little bit over my normal budget but it was worth it:) Thank you for great experience:)
Miraflores Guest House is one of the cheapest places in Miraflores with a good rating. They really deserve the good rating and offer excellent value for money. Great WiFi and good hot water. Big and clean room. The staff went out of their way to accommodate us. A short walk to Parque Kennedy, safe any time of the day. We felt wonderfully free being able to walk around at night, a real treat in South America. We didn’t use the kitchen because we came to Lima to eat Peruvian food but it’s nice they have coffee and tea.
Great value for price, nice staff, best taxi- airport price you can get in Lima, clean toilets and rooms, great location, fast wifi. You are not staying in a 5 star hotel. But for the money you pay you are getting a really good deal. Often hostels that cheap are dirty, the bed is hard, the walls thin and the street noise to loud. Not with this one. My girlfriend and I stayed one night (transit time between flights) and hopped for a clean shower (shared) and a comfortable bed. We got it :-)
The place is magic! You feel as thrown back in time a hundred years. It smells wonderful from the sea! Beautiful restaurant area that makes you feel as a princess/prince with very nice food and pisco sour. Breakfast is fine! Rooms are nice and a beautiful garden. Note this is in Callao and not in Lima. That means It's closer to the airport but far from Lima city centre or Miraflores. It is very close to the sea lion excursion that we highly recommend.
This is one of the best hostels you are likely to encounter in South America. Sandra and her team are super helpful and friendly. The rooms are clean and well kept with a good breakfast, well equipped kitchen and an abundance of communal areas inside and out. Barranco is a lovely part of Lima and if you need your fix of Miraflores, it is only a 30-40 min walk or 10min Metro bus away.
The property was great! A good clean space with 4 bathrooms! That was crazy ( we don’t even get that at home!) It was a nice little walk to everything, and we couldn’t have asked for an easier place to stay for our first 2 nights in Lima! It should be around S/. 80 from the airport, but the airport will charge you S/.100. Uber is a cheaper option as well. Mucho Gracias!!!
AMAZING staff - every single employee was incredibly kind and helpful. This was the last of 6 different hostels/hotels we stayed in during our time in Peru, and by far the employees here were the best (which is saying a lot!). The hostel also was very clean and cute, and had a cool rooftop. Convenient location in Miraflores, near Kennedy park with a quick walk to Larcomar.
Beautiful property and amazing manager! The location is perfect in the best part of Miraflores. The apartment was so spacious, comfortable and clean. It made me feel both in luxury and at home and is way cheaper than a hotel of equivalent luxury. The property manager was extremely responsive at all times with whatever I needed. Would LOVE to come back and stay again.
Location, location, location! In the heart of Miraflores, and a short walk to a gorgeous ocean view. Staff were warm, friendly and absolutely eager to help. Spotless rooms and bathrooms, amazing breakfast. When I come back to Lima, I will stay here again. Also, it was fairly quiet - rare in many Peruvian hotels! And tons of hot water!
The staff was nice and friendly. room clean and big and the bed was confy. the breakfast is perfect with 5 stars european level hotel. it is good located in miraflores. money exchange, shop and pharmacy are close by. i highly recommend this hotel. we appreciated that they opened breakfast just for us at 5 am. thanks to all staff members.
Maria was very helpful in communicating (Spanish-only and via translation app). Pickup from/to airport easily arranged. Close to airport. Should be considered a very utilitarian option if you need to be near airport. Compared to properties in Miraflores (for instance) this does not rate too favorably.
The homely feel, the beds, the facilities, the wall plugs by the bed, the rooftop bar, the location is also conveniently located between Miraflores and Barranco. Most importantly Marco is very helpful and offers great tips about Lima. Best hostel I have ever stayed in all my time travelling 😁
This modern and chick hotel, everything simple, but elegant. Located in prestigious area Miraflores, close to beach with breathtaking views. There is available airport shuttle with reasonable price. No breakfast included which takes away some points. Otherwise we had comfortable stay there.
Location great, staff excellent and ready to help with queries, directions and taxis etc. Nice , cosy hotel in a good part of Miraflores within reach of nearby attractions. Wish I had stayed there on my arrival in Lima as my stay at one of the big chains did not live up to the standards
I had a wonderful stay at the Inkari Luxury Hotel. The hotel exceeds my expectations of a four star hotel. The staff is very helpful and will do their utmost best to make your stay excellent. The location close to Kennedy Parc and the Inka Market in Miraflores is very convenient.
We booked a transfer from airport to the hotel, and the driver was in touch with us thanks to the hotel (the airline lost a luggage, and we lost a lot of time). Our twin room was comfortable, really clean, the breakfast healthy. A really good place to stay in Miraflores.
Everyone was really friendly and helpful. Good breakfast, clean rooms. I used airport pick up and drop off arranged by hotel and all worked perfectly fine. Had a nice two nights stay in the quiet part of Miraflores. Definitely would stay at Villa Molina again.
Good location just across the road from the aiport. Pretty quiet and restful given the location. Easy to get tourist bus to miraflores. The food and bar were both very good. Not a bad vibe for an airport hotel.
Miraflores is a safe place. You can move using the metropolitano and there are plenty of landmarks near the hotel
Great value hotel in the center of lima. It s cheap and simple. Just what i needed
