Very helpful in solving our problems with another company. Bridget and her coworkers went out of their way to make sure we had our tickets correct for our tours even though the tours weren't booked through Mapiland Hotel. If it wasn't for Mapiland Hotel we might have come all this way from the US and not get to go to Machu Picchu. Mapiland was clean, close to everything, had a great breakfast and a great view along the river. Also meet us at the train station, let us leave bags all day and extended our checkout time for a shower after Machu Picchu, since we walked down instead of taking a shuttle.

Machu pichu is quite spectacular and set in an equally spectacular natural setting. However the queues for the train, the bus going up, the entry, the toilets, the cafe, and the 800 metre queue for the bus back, together with the precipitous stairs and the congested trails through the site, greatly diminished the enjoyment of the experience . Waiting times amounted to several hours, often in the sun. And this was with pre-purchased tickets. Weigh up a visit carefully. We enjoyed our stay at Ollantaytambo much more - a nice little rural town with fabulous archeology and Peruvian culture

Machu Picchu was completely abandoned for nearly 400 years.

Machu Picchu was completely abandoned for nearly 400 years. There are no know written records of who built it, what it was used for or the part it played in Inca history. The guides are totally speculative. They have good stories..... but completely from their imagination. Do your homework and prepare for the visit.

The hotel is very basic, but good value for money, considering you can get a double room for quite a good price for Aguas Calientes. Centrally located, about 6-8min walk to the bus stop for Machu Pichu. They have lockers to keep your luggage after you check out. Breakfast was decent, eggs, fresh eggs, coffee etc. They serve it already very early for those leaving early for Machu Pichu. Room was clean, and we had a view of the mountains over the town’s rooftops.

Well… I can’t seriously evaluate this particular hotel. Inkaterra has 2 hotels in the town. This one and the high-end Inkaterra Pueblo. Considering Machu Picchu just reopened after the protests in Peru and there were very few tourists just yet, it didn’t make sense for them to have both hotels open. We have booked this hotel, but they put us in their main hotel. That one was still maybe at 10-20% of its capacity. That being said, the stay was amazing.

Edouard and Edith have been exceptional hosts going above and beyond what one could expect. Their hotel is clean and well maintained. It is super central to take the bus to Picchu and near the train station. At same time away from the loud streets. The charming noise of the river nearby adds to the experience. We recommend anyone to book with E & E :) if you want to add to your Machu Picchu experience a local and friendly touch.

This quaint historic hotel is very conveniently located close to the train station and just metres from the bus stop to Machu Picchu. The property is beautifully located up on the hills. The rooms have a great view and the staff was very accommodating. They met us at the train station and walked us up the steep but beautiful stairway to the hotel. They packed us breakfast for our early trek to Match Pitchu and even let us change after we came back as we had already checked out. Overall fantastic experience. Recommend 10/10

It looks clean at the first sight, but it’s not. I can feel that they didn’t change the bedding. The bathroom is small, you can’t turn around in the shower room and the water splashes out of the basin. This is the worst hotel I’ve stay in Peru among all six, I count the hours before leaving here.
