Many families visiting Machu Picchu loved staying at Yanay Collection, Sumaq Machu Picchu Hotel, and Amakonkay Machupicchu.
My only suggestion is don't do the day trip. I arrived a day and a half before my tour, hung out in the village, then stayed 2 days after. Did the hot springs twice. It was the perfect length, 4 full days
The best place on earth. *Good hiking trail, nature at it's best and a breath of fresh air. The best spot is from the classic photo view spot. *Restaurants in 'Aguas Caliente' offer menu (as it is called) for an affordable price and you can pick something interesting from the menu (which maybe more expensive) if you want. *Getting to Machu Picchu depends on you: via train which leaves from either POROY or Ollantaytambo. Train cost about 65 dollars for foreigners and less than 4 dollars for locals (including residents irrespective of your nationalities). *Avoid procrastination :)
Great place and the hike up from Aguas Calientes makes the visit even more spectacular. To fully enjoy and respect the historical achievement of the initial inhabitants a hike up is the way to go. Just be careful of the weather, changes all the time and can become slippery.
Getting on the first bus was great. Although I imagine getting the 2nd or 3rd would have been pretty similar too so don't stress too much. We had tickets for the mountain too which meant we lost the option of a tour guide after as it's a one way system and trekking up the mountain took hours and was very intense. I recommend deciding on doing either a guided tour of Machu pichu or climbing one of the mountains - there isn't really time for both.
Machu picchu is amazing - rains 25 days a month during rainy season so be prepared, ponchos are a big seller. Generally time slots are now 4 hours only, and circuit to walk is one way - we would have liked to go back higher to get some more photos but unable to. I would recommend avoiding Aguas Calientes, stay at Ollantaytambo and get the early train, spend 4-6hrs at macchu pichu and get the train back.
Machu Picchu was breathtaking and much larger than I expected. You could spend a full day roaming the place (except that they do not have toilet facilities after the entrance). Although it's crowded, there are many places to veer off and take a picture of yourself feeling like you're on top of the world. Bonus = llamas.
Machu Picchu
Small family hotel in Machu Picchu town. I must say for the price it exceeded my expectations. It had everything one needed for a good night's rest. The owner was up early preparing breakfast at 4:30 am so we could get an early start to Machu Picchu. The room was clean and spacious, the breakfast was surprisingly adequate for the price. I would definitely choose to stay there again. There are quite a few stairs to climb to arrive at the hotel, but as I expected this, it was not an issue for me.
Machu Picchu
Hotel had a nice breakfast. People were friendly and helpful. Hotel is nice and well kept. I personally didn't like our room it was like a overhang room near the lobby and so it was a bit louder than usual. I think the hotel is nice but we arrived late and likely got that as the last room available. Therefore, I lowered the level of comfort I experienced. My room was clean but a little less clean than the other three hotels I stayed at in Peru. Close to Machu Picchu Bus service.
it was a beautiful and peaceful stay, unique place and atmosphere (due to location and the hotel management too). there is a wonderful garden with hummingbirds and flowers, it was a great choice to celebrate birthday and visit Machu Picchu twice (evening slot at 14.00 long upper route and next morning long lower route and Wyna picchu. after check out there is shower room available (2) to change before going down to Aguascalientes.
It's a small hotel managed by a very nice and helpful gentleman. We were very happy to stay here and would come back, exelente treatment. We had to stay a little longer but not an other night and they let us stay till that evening on our room for a fraction of the normal fee even doe that ment the room wouldn't be available to anyone else. That kept us out of the rain.
Hotel is very close to where the train drops you (which is not the station when arriving). My room had an amazing view on the river. Because I was leaving early for Machu Picchu I got a lunch box instead of breakfast with even a thermos with choice of tea or coffee. But what I liked most was the staff. They were very helpful and answered all my questions quickly
The stuff was amazing. Speacilly the girl Seisa, who studies medicine and work at the same time. She recommended me a lot about Machu Picchu and the Cusco city. I couldn't have breakfast at the day of my Machu Picchu visit. But after that when I came back to the hotel to pick my backpack, Seisa prepared me a breakfast to go. I liked my stay in hotel Encanto.
Machu Picchu
Kind and well-English speak staffs are there. As I left this hotel at 5 am for MachuPicchu, they gave me packed breakfast (sandwiches, bananas, cereal bar, juice) and had kept my backpack untill I came back. comfy bed, warm shawer and coka tea survice were also nice.
Machu Picchu
Hotel is very clean, and Pico is a wonderful host who goes out of his way to make you feel welcome. He picked us up from the train station (very much appreciated!) and helped us with our plans for the day as well. Great value for the price!
Machu Picchu
The b&b had a very nice staff and a good breakfast with cooked to order eggs. Good view of the river, and the balcony was a nice bonus. 5-10 minute walk from the bus stop, but you can get off at the hotel near by on the way back.
The view was beautiful. We chose this hotel because we were on our honeymoon and it happens to have my husband’s family’s name. Also the room did have a refrigerator which was a nice surprise. We would not stay here again.
The breakfast was great and so was the location which was right near the Machu Picchu Plaza. The openness hotel environment is ideal for backpackers and anyone with a sense of adventure of wanting a true feel for nature.
Big rooms and new facilities in Aguas Calientes. Nice breakfast. Really friendly and helpful staff. The hotel is not on the main road so no noise from buses or bars. Laundry places nearby are handy.
Machu Picchu
The hotel is right in town and near many restaurants. The staff was friendly and watched our luggage while we went to Macchu Picchu.
The hole staff was amazing, the location of the hotel was near to everything and the view to the mountain is incredible!
Hotel and staff were nice
This place was remarkable!!! They updated our stay because my fiance proposed at Machu Picchu and they gave us a phenomenal view of the mountain side. The breakfast was spectacular and it came with our stay. They placed chocolate covered strawberries in the room as well and spoke about the area and what there was to do near by. They also helped us with our train arrangements as well as our tour arrangements of the mountain. Everything was sanitized and cleaned to covid standards and Maria (the Concierge) as well as the rest of the staff were so kind and so amazing. Remarkable
Great value for our stay in Aguas Caliente and the staff was very nice and helpful
Great position, not far from the station and also to the local village
Magical setting in nature reserve
