It’s gorgeous, close to Macchu a Picchu for a day trip, gives you a chance to adjust to altitude rather than getting slammed in Cusco on arrival. Has its own ruins! Near loads of other cool places
Everything was within walking distance but take it slow. The altitude can really wind you. There are dogs running around and it's very cute. Check out Organika, Limbus Restobar, empanadas, the San Pedro Market(watch your bags and personal items), try Lucuma smoothies with mango or pineapple juice at the market, you can actually walk to Sacsaywaman and the religious status in about 30-45 minutes. The military lines up in the square on Sunday mornings. AVOID Jenly Tour company. If you have a limited amount of time, go to Maras y Maray(it includes how to dye the wool and pictures with alpacas) and skip Pisac. The natural history museum is only 3 soles but also only 1 room of you have some free time in the square. Remind yourself that the rest of Peru has a completely different vibe than Cusco. April rains were quite short. It's hot during the day and cold at night.
Cuzco is a lovely relaxing city with plenty to shop for. I really prefer cusco over lima as the traffic and noise (constant car horns) is a lot less. City is beautiful with plenty to do. I personally felt safe and i loved the resturants.
Nice enough selection but nothing you can't get in Cusco or other places much cheaper including the Machu Picchu items.
Hassled by street vendors constantly The local tour company we dealt with Quechuas Expeditions was very disorganized before our trek however we had an excellent 4 day 3 night trek on the Inka Trail. We found a wonderful coffee shop called Cusco Cafe- owned and operated by a husband and wife team The food was excellent and great value for the money.
It was the perfect place to stay. It was a little lower in elevation than Cusco so the altitude effects weren't as drastic. I will go again. Ordering a taxi is cheaper than the shuttle taxi the resort offers. The food was average. I really didn't find the spectacular restaurant but there is always next time.
My friend and I I hired a private taxi to take us there . Make sure you also walk around , behind the site, to get to the big cross overlooking the magnificent view of the whole city of Cusco surrounded by the majestic mountains . Breathtak
This was one of my favorite cities throughout Peru, wish we would have stayed here longer and less days in Cusco. We got lucky and were there for their yearly May Festival that lasts 4 days and according to the locals is the best festival of the year. There were a lot of traditional dances, food and fireworks. Our hotel was close to the ruins so far away enough to not hear the partying noise at night.
Cusco is a great jumping off point to several smaller places like Aguas Caliente or Pisac. Both little places have great markets and wonderful food. In Cusco tho, I loved the street venders and how willing they were to haggle with you. You could buy from them the same you’d find at Plaza de Armas for more than half the price. TikaSara restaurant was a lovely place. The alpaca is something everyone should try. Coffee and Crepes cafe was lovely. I could not get enough of their coffee! That’s a place that is boasted for their coffee and I was not let down.
There is so much to see and do. Lots of shopping opportunities for treasures to take home. Love Pachapappa for great food and meeting others, while traveling. Food in Peru is amazing! I crave it when home. You can walk far and wide around Cusco, best to do some sort, of altitude medicaton, to assist your body and make it easier. Cuzco is sade, if you play it smart. While traveling alonr don't wear flashy backpacks, jewelry and pay attention and you will have a great time.
Reception staff was very nice and helpful. We loved our stay! Breakfast was delicious, the best we had in all our trip to Peru! The buffet options and the cook to order option where all very good. We also really like that there was filtered water available to refill our water bottles. There is also a tea "bar" in the lobby where you can make yourself some nice tea at anytime of day. Pressure in the shower was awesome! Location was great! If we ever come back to Cusco we would definitely stay here again.
I like the view from our room. next to the water creek and it is not very loud. Good nite sleep, very quite. I like their breakfast. So close to town i walk everywhere. lots of restuarants option. Really like Veronica and Magico right across the street . Almost at the entrance to Ollantaytampo ruins. Easy to catch a taxi or tutu to the Peru train station. Derek the front desk was a great help to us. Speak really good english. Friendly and helpful. Even help me negotiate a good taxi deal back to Cusco.
Cusco
Alberto, our host is amazing. Kind, responsive, generous and willing to do whatever he can to make your stay comfortable. He cooks an amazing hot breakfast, which is included in the stay...fresh fruit drinks included. The location is up out of the noise and crowd out of Cusco, however we could walk to town in about 20 minutes, downhill. It takes longer to get back, but is a great workout. It is a short taxi ride home if you don't want the exercise. It felt Peruvian and we loved that.
Ollantaytambo
Location location location. Best views of all of Peru anytime of the day! Service is beyond what you can imagine! Jose, Luis, Juan Carlos, and chef Samuel love what they do. You can see they pour their heart in their work. The activities are amazing! I never thought the hanging bridge was that long, the zipline is longer than expected. Expect to have adrenaline pumping activities! Oh did I tell you food is non-stop with their five course dinner and breakfast! Best food in Cusco-Ollantaytambo!
Very welcoming, friendly and helpful. Each staff member even knew my name and the names of the rest of the guests which makes you feel at home.. I had 3 stays at this hostel during my time in Peru. All rooms were a little different but beds were always very confortable & bathrooms very clean and with hot water. The hostal is located in a residential part of Cusco with good and cheap restaurants nearby. The walk to the historical city center takes just 10 min.
Our stay at Hotel Hacienda in Cusco was fantastic! The hotel's charming architecture had a unique appeal, adding to the overall allure of Cusco. The main plaza was just a short walk away, making our exploration of the city very convenient. The breakfast at the hotel was a treat, with a variety of delicious options to start our day right. The staff deserves special mention - they were incredibly helpful and ensured our stay was comfortable and enjoyable.
Cusco
Carlos was an amazing host and went out of his way to ensure our stay was excellent. We can't praise Carlos enough. He really makes sure your stay is amazing from start to finish. Aside from that, you will have the best view of Cusco, Peru... all to yourself! It took us about a day to get used to the altitude but after that we were good. The hike up was always a struggle but it was part of the journey. We loved it and would recommend staying here 100%
Great vibe! A very welcoming feeling upon arrival. This is a great boutique hotel, perfect location. Bright and colorful. It was our first time in Cusco, and I cannot say enough kind things about the staff, so knowledgeable and helpful. I am an English speaker and there were no communication issues at all. The lady who prepared breakfast had a great sense of humor and taught us many native phrases “Anyang” = “Gacias” for your hospitality.
Hotel Recoleta boutique in Cusco has recently opened and this is their second property in town. Everything is new, comfy bed, nice hot water, great room and nice breakfast. They are very professional, great hospitality and go above and beyond to make sure your stay in peru memorable. They helped us with booking the city tour (with best Price in town and much cheaper than online) and gave us all locations for shopping and places to visit.
Ollantaytambo
Wow. This place is probably one of the best places we have stayed in Peru. The place is so charming and the garden is lovely, blooming and green. It’s so much better than staying in Cusco, I definitely recommend you booking this place here and enjoying the peace and quiet it offers. The staff is super nice, welcoming, we even left our luggage for 2 days there for free, while we stayed in Macchu Pichu. Cannot recommed more.
Cusco
I star my travel to Cusco with no informetion adout the city but whene i arrived there and ask for help everyone star to help me to organize my trip. Everything that they suggested to me was amazing and the room at the end of the day was a super comfortable place . The people who work there are very friendly and have made a very nice place. It is a hostel that if I were to travel to Cusco again I would definitely prefer it.
Cusco City Centre, Cusco
Excellent location. Few block's from plaza de armas. Peruvian style casona with great decor Breakfast self prepared ,very delicious (they bring you all the ingredients night before) great equipped kitchen ie blender juicer pots frying pan and all the utensils Great atmosphere .wonderful helpful stuff. Shout out to a very sweet and helpful gentleman Augustine. Highly recommended this hotel when you visiting Cusco
This family hotel makes you feel safe, when you arrive in Peru, the staff is always on the lookout to help you with whatever you need, they waited for us upon arrival and Alexander helped us a lot throughout our tour, the room is comfortable and very hygienic, with the friendliest staff, super good breakfast and good quality and price ratio, I recommend taking here complementary services for the city of Cusco.
Patti (La Jefa) is an absolute legend! I cannot say enough about how lovingly we were treated during our stay in this modest and unassuming little village between Cusco and Juliaca. Anyone looking for a base to go visit Rainbow Mountain on their own, I cannot recommend any hotel in Peru more highly if for no other reason than how pleasant and kind our hosts were. Thank you, Patti, for everything!
It’s a pleasant hotel, with a nice rustic/historic feel. The rooms were comfortable. It’s right across the street from one of the main markets so it can be very busy, with many people on the streets. This could make someone uncertain about the area at first. However, overall, no issues, I felt comfortable and safe, the people in Cusco are the kindest. The breakfast was nice too.
Cusco City Centre, Cusco
I stayed at three Flying Dog Hostels across Peru and found the staff in each hostel to be extremely helpful and attentive and I loved that they gave such special attention to my dog Colt. Cusco was very cold in the evenings so we were so happy that we could rent a heater and the hot water on tap was divine! WiFi worked great which is important for a digital worker like me.
Our host, Victor and his family treated us like their own family. They are super kind, very hospitable and did outside the box to make me and my fiance stay memorable. It was hard and sad when we had to check out. The room is spacious enough, clean, and in strategic location. I would recommend everyone who is planning to come to Cusco to stay at Ureta Hotel!
Cusco
We had a wonderful stay at Magic Packers hostel. They were flexible with the check-in and check-out time, as we arrived early in the morning and left late afternoon. The property is clean and nice, we had to skip breakfast but tried once and it was enjoyable. The staff is extremely kind and they helped us book some day trips around Cusco.
We stayed here to break up the journey between Puno and Cusco. I am not sure you can find much better on the way, especially for that price. The staff were very friendly, lighting a fire and making a good restaurant suggestion. Sicuani was also nicer than expected. Oh, and the beds were probably the most comfortable I've had in Peru.
Stunning view from the bed. Try to get the room with a view, it is breathtaking to look above Cusco. San Blas is definitely the best location to stay in Cusco! We loved it! Breakfast is very fresh and delicious. At night the even snugged a hot-water bottle under our blankets. Nice suprise. Very clean and cozy Hotel. We loved our stay!
