Clean, comfortable room. Nice beds, hot water. Helpful and attentive staff. They helped us a lot, booked taxis, tuk tuks and small private tours for us, helped us with our laundry, allowed us to store our luggage - we asked and got a heating unit in our room. Good location away from downtown noise. Very good breakfast, nice courtyard.

It was very clean and the host were very accommodating. My MIL gets extremely cold during the night and they offered her a heater. It was only about a 15 minute walk to the train station and they had an amazing breakfast everyday!

We loved the atmosphere of the place, and enjoyed chatting with the family that runs the place. We also enjoyed the provided breakfast, the small yard, and booked tours through the hotel. They also clean the rooms every day and refill supplies as needed.

Incredibly charming and historic town! I recommend to stay at least a full day and night to explore the ruins and walk around the narrow pedestrian cobblestone streets. Also, the markets right outside of the ruins had some of the best souvenirs at the best prices we found throughout our entire 2 weeks in Peru.

The Ollantaytambo ruins exceeded my expectations.
The Ollantaytambo ruins exceeded my expectations. Our guide Ernesto did an excellent job of showing us details of the architecture and history that we would have completely missed without him. There is some high quality Inca architecture there with impressively large stones and the site is not overwhelming. Nice hike and view at Pinkaylluna. Hiked from Pichingoto up to Maras pueblo through the salt mines and then taxied to Moray. Beautiful and good for acclimatization.

Ollantaytambo is more thanjust a jumping point to visit Machu Picchu. It was the theRoyal city of the Inca Empire. From the megalithic red granite Sun Temple, the face of Viracocha, tthe ancient gridded streets, or a hike to Pumamarka or Naupa Iglesia, there is something for everyone.

Ollantaytambo is a piece of Peru to be enjoyed at leisure.
Ollantaytambo is a piece of Peru to be enjoyed at leisure. It’s a beautiful place with a stunning backdrop of mountain ranges and Incan ruins. The town itself seems to have held out to its Incan roots with homes and shops still on the foundations of their Incan forefathers. Take a meander through the streets and soak up the lovely tranquil atmosphere, or sit in the square and grab a bite or a drink. We would love to have been there longer to explore the surrounding areas and recharge our batteries. Aside from Machu Picchu, we found this one of the most spiritual locations in Peru, simply because of the pace of life and strong connection to the locals. There’s also much less hard sales here than other tourist hot spots.
There are three Incan ruins nearby to explore, though some climbs are not for the faint hearted or suitable for children - we tried one and thought better of it, choosing to do the main ruins.
We stayed overnight on our way back from Aguas Calientes and found it easy by train. There isn’t a train or tourist bus service out so we opted for a shared taxi back to Cusco. The service was reliable, faster than our Peru Rail biomodal service connection and was much cheaper. Ask at the Tourist desk in the square for help. The chap there was super helpful. Don’t miss this utter gem in Peru.

The absolute best town to stay for your trip to the Sacred...
The absolute best town to stay for your trip to the Sacred Valley or Machu Picchu! The most beautiful historical centre and with ruins on both sides to ecplore. What an amazing town! Do mot even think about staying in Aguas Calientes, here there is so much character and history with the most beautiful architecture to explore and streers to get lost in. Definitely a must stay over!!
The hotel is very close to the mountain river, great if you like the sound, simple breakfast, good location to explore the surroundings of Ollantaytambo. Since we were in Ollantaytambo in transition from Macchu Pichu to Cusco - personally I would better have chosen a location closer to the main square or somewhere closer to the train/bus stops.
Very quaint, cosy and comfortable hotel. Amazing hosts and delicious breakfast. Room could do with a couple of extra hooks to hang towels or jackets, but otherwise great.
Short stroll to the plaza de arma through the very cute town of Ollantaytambo. Overall, excellent value for money.
The friendliness of the staff and the owner was lovely. They organised a taxi and gave us a heater when we needed it.
Staying in the whole hotel is like staying in an exhibition.
Ollantaytambo is also a wonderful place worth visiting on any trip to Peru.
