Katowice is located in the Silesian Highlands and is one of Europe’s largest industrial centres with a commercial, cultural and modern expansion from its old roots.
The spirit of the city is reflected in places such as Cathedral of Christ the King, the multipurpose and flying saucer shaped Spodek arena, the modern Silesia City Centre shopping mall, the cultural Silesian Museum, and the Historical Museum of Katowice.
Silesian Culture and Recreation Park is an extensive park located between Katowice and neighbouring Chorzow, a great place to keep in mind for a day excursion. Chorzow is home to a zoo, a amusement park, a nature reserve and the Silesian Planetarium.
The city offers several dining and entertainment options, from local 'no-frills' eateries and snack bars, to chic restaurants and bars around the cosmopolitan and upmarket streets of Staromiejska and Wawelska.
Check out Booking.com for great accommodation deals in the city centre and near Pyrzowice Airport and Katowice Central Station.
Found it expensive however lovely place. Do walk around the whole city to see the back end streets etc. Krakow around 1 hour by train price ranges from 19.95 to 27 polish zloty one way average 22.95 PLZ. 2 to 5 years will be transformed and this will be good. AP on yellow bus to from airport Terminal ABC combined. 6.60 Plz each way. Bus stop 10 in Katowice station which interacts with Katowice Gallerie (shopping Centre). Restaurants slightly different set up to that of other Euro countries. Europe place to be. Certain elements of society who are influenced by drink and drugs as per any country tend to hang about train station but Police on them often. Always looking for a scrounge but tends to walk away if firm but fair. Criminals will operate but overall safe city.
It's an underated city. It has a lot to offer for a weekend: the old town is not the best one but it has some interesting coffee hipster places. The cultural neighbourhood has impressive architecture, worthy to see. Check Nikiszowiec is beautiful.
An excellent city that has all the amenities of a real, small industrial city with an appropriate amount of heritage and cultural treasures. It is located at a traffic hub and is well connected to cities such as Krakow, Wroclaw. It is excellent for spending at least two quality days in it.
I was visiting the Rammsteing show so the city was just hell with the traffic and an enormous number of people. However, I was quite impressed with the modern buildings and transport infrastructure expecting it to be much simpler. It would be good to have a bit more time to take a walk around.
For me Katowice is a modern European city with a lot of things to see and places to visit! Nice connection between Airport and The railway station, clean and beautiful historical centre, modern shopping malls and a lot of restaurants. This city is nice to have a trip to!
It depends what is your kind of tourism that you planned, In my case that I fan Second World War history it was a base camp to move to Oświęcim(Auschwitz)museum on your own means, planning your visit as you wish. Because from Katowice its easy to move to this venue in a short time and easy way by train. In other hand, Katowice is a modern city with a good develop of services and architecture and well fitted for a tourism.
An excellent apartment, clean with lots of thoughtful supplies that made my stay even more comfortable. The location was good for me as I had an event in the local area. Otherwise it's just a couple of stops on the train to central Katowice. I'm especially grateful to Jarek for being a very kind host and collecting me from the airport despite some delays and complicated circumstances. Thank you so much. Overall, I highly recommend!
Katowice
This is a very friendly hostel, with its own courtyard. The bed was comfortable and the kitchen had everything needed (except an oven, which was taped closed). It's close to the city centre, less than 15 minutes walk from the train station and international bus station. The wi-fi was very good, the best I experienced in Poland on this trip.
The Hotel s located in central Katowice and the location makes reaching attractions in the city convenient. The breakfast was good and the beds rather comfortable All in all a rather good experience, despite some drawbacks. If all you need is a place to drop at the end of the day to get a night's sleep, it is very good for that
The hotel is located very close to a big shopping center, which is convenient, you can get there by walk and find everything you need to start your trip- exchange, sim card, bus tickets and so on. But I guess there are also shopping centers like this also in the city center. The room was clean and simple.
Katowice
One of the few hostels with high standard and care to the details — disposable foot towels for each use(!), wide solid beds with curtains, huge(!) lockers with AC outlet inside, large thick towels like the ones you have at home + free hotel slippers.
Nice budget hotel , with cheap but OK breakfast. The staff were good and helpful. Good for short stays. The location is not far from the center, around 15-17 minutes walk from the train station and the mall..the Liddle is a 5 minute walk as well.
Katowice
Very good position for my needs, 2 minutes to walk to the train station and to the main bus station of the city, from where I went on the bus to the airport. Private bathroom, common kitchen, good wifi. Very good value for money.
This is a pearl in the center of Katowice, the rooms a specious and very clean the same for the bathroom. You have to try the restaurant one of the best in Poland with a great service. The breakfast was all what you need.
Breakfast was great. Excellent room for staying with children. About half an hour away from Katowice airport. Overall experience was great and the hotel is very nice.
Katowice
Perfect for a short stay , clean , comfortable and excellent location.Next to train station and short distance from an airport. Great communication with the host.
Katowice
The apartment is exceptionally clean and cozy. It looks like a 5 star hotel room. The view was very decent and the host was nice. I definitely recommend it.
Great location, close to the train station and to the mall. Lovely room. Pretty lobby. Staff very helpfull, support us with airport transportation.
Katowice
The hotel's central location is a big plus. As for the room, it was spacious & clean, with pretty much everything needed.
Good location - near to our place of interest. Parking spaces for guests in front of the hotel. Delicious breakfast!
Its one of my favorite hotel in Poland , in every location I’ve been treated like a king Extremely love this place
