The room was spacious with a balcony overlooking the sea. The hotel is very quiet, there are no breakfast queues or big crowds at the pools like in big hotels. It's the perfect place for relaxing. The staff were very helpful and friendly. The restaurant surprised us with its excellent quality.

Excellent location, lovely personal and great atmosphere all together. It was quiet and cozy. The territory around is well maintained and very green, with beautiful garden. The breakfast and dinner were very delicious, I believe that everyone will find that will suit their taste. Personally I loved the omelette and variety of fruits at the breakfast and excellent fish and vegetarian dishes served at dinner. Almost forgot - the rooms are big, clean and comfortable.

Room was bright, spacious and comfortable. I was solo traveler, so room was more than enough for me. The restroom had the bath but not a shower cabin. There was a heated pool and jacuzzi in the basement - very relaxing activity after hiking day. The also was shoes shower outside :)

I was lucky to find one last room for 2 nights (even when booking two months in advance!) – we would have gladly stayed longer! A magical place – just about 15 minutes by car from Funchal, but the change of scenery is incredible! The hotel looks majestic, surrounded by lush greenery and flowers, and the evening mist adds a mysterious touch. The Monte Palace is right at the foot of the famous Monte Palace– it almost feels like the hotel is part of it! Our room was very nice (though the bathroom could use a bit of modernizing), and everything was spotless. Breakfast was very good – not a huge selection, but it was absolutely fine! The welcome glass of champagne at the bar was a lovely detail. The style and decor throughout the common areas of the hotel were also exceptional! Out of the 4 hotels we stayed at on the island, this one was our favorite – it’s the one I’ll be recommending to my friends and family!

We got the family room for 3 people which we thought would imply one of us sleeping on the sofa, but they had already prepared a third bed for us. The room was spacious, very clean, huge closet and nice balcony with chairs and a table to watch the ocean from. The breakfast was a nice classic selection (ham, salami, cheeses, various types of pastries, beans, eggs and lots of fruit). The pool is always clean, not as big as in the picture, but there is still plenty of room to swim around especially since most of it 2m deep (7ft). The jacuzzi was a nice addition for colder evenings. The staff are very kind and willing to adapt to your needs or requests. The hotel offers the possibility to rent a car without deposit (which was a huge deal for us since deposits were in the range of 2000 euros) by paying 10 euro more each day you rent for full insurance. They also bring the car to the hotel for you.

It has its own little garden with some animals. The whole hotel is very quiet and peacefull. The wellness has 2 nice sauna and a pool. We got an upgrade to a suite because all of our original rooms were already occupied.
