The staff was wonderful! They gave us a beautiful tour of the property when we arrived, showing us the concept behind the hotel - the blending of art and history (Artsy). They were extremely accommodating for every request. The daily breakfast that was included exceeded my expectations in every way. My friend is gluten intolerant which I had specified when we made the reservation, and the server who took care of us at breakfast appeared with fresh-baked gluten-free bread, which was totally unexpected. The location was superb - right on the bike path, right on the water, and around the corner from the shopping and restaurants. It was all impressive, but the staff members were what set this property apart for me. When they discovered that I was departing early in the morning, they prepared me a box lunch so that I could have breakfast on the ride to the airport. Such a thoughtful touch. 10/10!

The hotel moves as a single, living organism under the gracious orchestration of Mr. José Diogo, whose natural kindness seems to flow through every corridor and every member of staff. Nothing feels rehearsed; warmth here is unforced, precise, and deeply human. It is comfort made intelligent; every detail correct, from the water’s warmth to the fall of the drapery, down to the coffee at the perfect temperature. Nothing announces itself; everything simply works. Immaculate cleanliness is not merely visible; it is felt. The Palácio keeps a classic soul at a remarkably high standard, and pairs that soul with a quietly posh sensibility that never shouts. The hotel and its people act together, attentive without hovering, elegant without theater. We have stayed in well over a hundred five-star hotels; this is the finest experience we have ever had.
