Superb location, close to the capital city of Ljubljana if you want to visit other places. Very scenic and lots of outdoor activities. The trip on the boat to the island was one of the highlights of my trip. The climb to the castle was lovely with superb views of the lake . Lovely restaurants, lots of choice . Would visit again.

Absolutely gorgeous area.
Absolutely gorgeous area. There's not a ton to do around the town, but it has good restaurants, and there's plenty of nature trails within a short distance. The lake itself is surreal. The island with the church in the middle looks just like it does in the pictures. You can rent rowboats, kayaks, and paddleboards to get on the water, and most were reasonably priced. The weather was quite pleasant, and it was neat to see the cloud systems move over the surrounding mountains. I can't imagine how pretty it must be in the fall when the leaves change color. We really loved the pizza place that was just down the street and the breakfast at Old Parish House. We also enjoyed biking around the lake and rowing out to the island. It's also very close to the castle with the path just off the parking lot. My daughter visited Old Parish House in the winter a few years ago and she rode a horse around the path and said that was amazing. My husband had been there almost 30 years ago and said it was much more touristry in the area of the lake where he had stayed previously. Fortunately the area where Old Parish House is was not like that. Walking around Lake Bled, visiting Vintgar Gorge, and all the wonderful hikes in the Lake Bohinj area - just spectacular.
