A Fairytale Place
Surrounded by green Alpine mountains, the Slovenian island of Bled is like a piece of paradise in the middle of a picturesque lake. Home to the romantic Bled Castle, this popular tourist town will amaze you with its idyllic landscape and outdoor activities.
Overlooking the Julian Alps, the iconic Assumption of Mary Pilgrimage Church was built on the ruins of a temple dedicated to the Slavic goddess of love, Zina. The island is reachable by a traditional boat called Pletna and is a dreamy place for a wedding. According to the custom, the groom has to silently carry his wife up to the steps of the charming island.
Created at the end of the Ice Age by the Bohinj glacier, the picture-perfect Bled Lake is ideal for activities like fishing, rowing and canoeing. Nature lovers should not miss Iglica Waterfall, a natural miracle on the Suha stream.
Known for its spa facilities, the town of Bled is about 35 km from Triglav National Park and 30 km from the international airport of Ljubljana, Brnik Airport. Check the Booking.com deals and choose the right hotel, guest house or apartment.

Lake Bled is beautiful!
Lake Bled is beautiful! The (~3.5 mile) roundtrip walk surrounding the lake is well maintained, well lit, and peaceful. Just past the Olympic Training Center is a small restaurant with a lake-view deck that is conveniently located about half-way around the lake. Lodging in Bled is plentiful at all price points. Bled has many restaurants, although we visited in October and several had already closed for the season. I do NOT recommend the Bled Castle restaurant; great view but the food was mediocre at best. Personally I found Bled (town) to be too commercial for my taste. I can see how summer crowds would make it even less appealing. The location was good, however, for use of their excellent/low cost public bus system (even for those of us who never use bus transportation at home!) for taking day trips.

This is my 3rd visit to Bled for a figure skating...
This is my 3rd visit to Bled for a figure skating competition. The town is very beautiful and has some interesting sites like the castle and lake. If you enjoy the outdoors there are plenty of walks and adventurous activities to take part in. Bled is pretty for a short visit or as a base to explore the areas around further.

The walk around the lake was beautiful including the boat ride to the island. Many places you can sit and enjoy the beauty. We drove the Julian Alps (Vrisich? Pass) which was incedible with lunch in Bovec. Beautiful town - a must see.

The views were breathtaking around most of the area and Lake Bled was beautiful. As with most popular places traffic was heavy in and around the town but all traffic moved ok and no holdups.
There were many places to eat that would suit all budgets but compared to where we came from which is Hungary it was quite expensive.
If I had to be honest most of the area is geared for young people and fit people who love most outdoor activities so for 2 people 1 in their late 70s and the other 80 who have alot of aches and pains it was hard going but we enjoyed our stay even if we drove around more that we intended.

Bled is beautiful.
Bled is beautiful. We only spent one night but we "got in" what we wanted to.
We climbed up to the viewpoint, which while challenging is a must do. The view is spectacular!
We visited the castle, where we had the Bled Cream Cake and enjoyed the history of the castle and of course the views.
We rode the Straza Bled Alpine Coaster, which was a lot of fun. If you go, buy the 2 ride option! We wished we had.
And we had dinner in a lakeside restaurant so to further soak up the incredible beauty of this area.
Bonus: there were clean public bathrooms!

The scenery around the lake is truly unique.
The scenery around the lake is truly unique. The only thing that spoils the experience is the fact that Bled is one of the busiest tourist destinations in Slovenia.
Nevertheless, it is possible to find routes and excursions where you can avoid the biggest crowds.
It’s also a great destination for sports enthusiasts. A morning run around the lake has a truly unique atmosphere.

Nice hotel with a very good location, just a short distance from Lake Bled. It offers a wonderful view, especially in the evening. The staff are friendly, and the room was big and quiet. The hotel also has excellent facilities, including a very big pool and variety of spa. Recommended booking a room with a lake view, even if it's at a higher price.

We had a great stay at Garni Hotel Savica. The hotel is in a fantastic location, just a short walk from Lake Bled, and the family-friendly atmosphere made it perfect for traveling with children. The breakfast was excellent, and the complimentary access to the nearby Živa Wellness pools was a wonderful bonus.

Fab location just a stone throw from Lake Bled. Very welcoming staff on arrival and in the morning at check out. The hotel is so quaint; it’s been decorated beautifully and feels so homely. The restaurant next door was delicious and good value
