The charming Slovenian capital of Ljubljana is the only large city in the country. Dominated by Castle Hill with the medieval Ljubljana Castle on top, the city is a picturesque mix of Balkan architectural styles, romantic bridges and scenic views.

this was my first time to Ljubljana, and i loved it!
this was my first time to Ljubljana, and i loved it! it is a compact city - everything was very close to our hotel, and easily within waling distance. The town is very pretty - the architecture is very similar to italian styles, and the city centre is mostly pedestrianised. in the evening, the area around the river is very active, with bars and restaurants, perfect to enjoj cocktails. We only stayed for 1 night so had an evening and the next day, we ate in pizzeria Foculus - it was delicious, not expensive, and they were able to offer me gluten free options, which was fab. The next day, we wandered around the town, looking into some local shops - thankfully, not the standard european high street chains, and we paid for a tour around the castle. All worthwhile doing. We packed a lot into a short space of time, but i would definitely recommend visiting

The cleanest city I‘ve ever visited. It’s so beautiful and people are very nice, welcoming and friendly. Strolling around the city was the best part. You can find some great restaurants and bars that have good international food. Also the city is a full of history and culture. The Tivoli park was magnificent. Visited Castle and old town. Took train for sightseeing around the town which was informative. Easy to walk around city and plenty of places to eat in town . Had a car had took a day trip to Lake Bled which was great and an excellent day out .

I had not heard much about Ljubljana and was absolutely blown away! It ranks as one of the most incredible finds in the course of my travels. It is a must-see! I just happened to be passing through so my stay was not nearly long enough. I plan to return as soon as possible. The local Slovenian food was just incredible! The walk from the station takes about 30 minutes along the river. Our top floor room was spotless and had a private outdoor space to sit and admire the view across the city. There is a lift We requested and got an early breakfast as we had a train to catch. The breakfast itself was good and plentiful. Zara the only staff member we saw was fantastic- even when we left without paying ( our mistake which we have now rectified.)
