The charming Slovenian capital of Ljubljana is the only large city in the country. Dominated by Castle Hill with the medieval Ljubljana Castle on top, the city is a picturesque mix of Balkan architectural styles, romantic bridges and scenic views.
Due to two major earthquakes in 1511 and 1895 that destroyed many buildings, the Old Town features a range of styles: from Roman to Medieval Baroque and Viennese Secession. This trend exists throughout the city with many Gothic-style buildings featuring elements from different periods added later on.
Strolling along Ljubljanica River, you'll see the Triple Bridge, connecting two parts of the center and beautifully lit in the evenings. Make a stop at Prešelen Square, Ljubljana’s most popular meeting point with the Franciscan Church of Annunciation and one of the main shopping streets, Čop Street.
With over 10,000 cultural events a year and still preserving the charm of a smaller town, Ljubljana is a city where you can truly relax: on a bench in Tivoli Park, in one of the bars in the Town Square, or on a funicular to the top of Castle Hill.
Whether you’re looking for cheap or luxury hotels, near the center of the city or Brnik Airport, Booking.com has plenty of properties for your vacation in Ljubljana!

We took the free walking tour in Ljubljana where we met at the pink church. This was a great tour, we learned so much about the history of the city. The guide was very informed of all the history! This is a beautiful city and I would highly recommend it to everyone. We also took the Postojana Cave and the Predjama Castle tour, very good and would also recommend!! We also went to Bled and toured the gorge and the lake!!
The people here speak very good English which helps for the tourists too!

Great city to walk around with lots of restaurants and cafes. Markets are interesting. Tivoli Park is huge with great easy walks. Ljubljana Castle has great views but don’t think it’s worth paying admission. The city has free little buses to transport people.

It’s a small city so very easy to walk around.
It’s a small city so very easy to walk around. The centre is pedestrianised, but there is some bicycle traffic. We walked a good distance along the river in both directions which is lovely, visited the castle which was interesting, walk up the little railway gets very crowded. Our favourite restaurant was Barbarella a vegetarian place near the town hall, good food and friendly service. Plenty of WC facilities, usually near the bridges on the river. Ljubljana is clean, well cared for and a lovely place to visit.

Lots of restaurants in the old town and neighbouring streets. Castle good and well worth accessing via the funicular to get views of the city.
Lake Bled and Postojna caves definitely worth a visit and easily accessible using local buses which were cheap to use and ran pretty well to timetable.
English widely spoken and everyone very friendly.
The city was more expensive than I thought it would be - typical main course around 20 Euros which I was a little surprised by.

We were surprised at the cleanliness and amenities of the city. The bus service is excellent and only cost Euro 1.30 in the Zone 1. The bike hire by the hour is fantastic and gets you across the city perfectly. It is well used by the locals and works a treat. Your can enrol for 1 week for Euro 1 and as a tourist. There are Kavalir (little transport vehicles) pick up services that you can call for a free ride. The city centre is car free and a pleasure to walk around in. If you have a bike you are out of the city in no time and can enjoy the beautiful country side. Tipping is not expected and service generally very good. The old town is very pedestrian friendly and in September not crowded at all. We very much enjoyed our week in Ljubljana.
The hotel was good value and we didn't expect 5 star. It was clean and comfortable. You check in and have breakfast next to the WUD 10 m. to the right as you face the entrance. The hotel is around 4 klm from the city centre, free bikes are available. Make sure that the balcony door is properly closed if you want the air conditioner to keep working. It was 35 degrees when we were there and it was comfortable in the room. WiFi worked perfectly. We found the beds very comfortable. Supermarket 50m away was useful.
Very friendly staff, the receptionist was super helpful. Great location, few minutes of walking to the city centre. You can reserve parking near the hotel for an affordable price. Classic hotel breakfast with all sort of stuff included, the food was good. The room is really nice and clean. Value for money, will definitely come back ❤️
The hotel is located in the city centre. It takes you only 5-10 minutes to get to any tourist attraction by foot. Staff is friendly and helpful. The room was nice and clean (hotel provides everyday cleaning).
