If you are looking for a quaint little town near the ocean with lots of cute and/or expensive shops and restaurants to explore, Bodega Bay is not the place for you. It is a working ocean town with boats and fisherman and some wonderful views of the ocean. The town is spread out along California Highway One, an adventure in itself. They also have a park which has lots of picnic tables and benches, campgrounds, a wonderful walking beach, and a jetty where you can watch the fishing boats go out and back each day. Lots to see, but you will need your car to get around.
Bodega Bay is a wonderful coastal town with wonderful beaches to explore, restaurants, small shops and beautiful scenery. It is one of our favorite destinations for a day trip or a few night's stay. The traffic through the small town was challenging because of the very busy weekend on the coast. But normally this is not an issue. We had a very nice dinner at The Tides. Due to the pandemic, we ate outside on the pier overlooking the beautiful Bodega Bay and a couple of picturesque fishing boats. Our meals were scrumptious but very expensive!
We have been here before and love the area. The wildlife and activities are wonderful. We don't participate in many physical activities any more due to our age and health, but we love watching others. Everyone in the town is very friendly. This is a great location if you love the bay, boats, ocean, and everything outdoors.
The beaches seem very clean. we go for the magnificent ocean views. We don't seem to get that from the rooms, but a drive up the coast is awesome. It's not crowded, and the best time to go seems to be October. It's kinda cool, but not usually stormy and usually sunny
Love the Bodega Bay Area! Originally from Cape Cod Massachusetts, so, to me Bodega Bay is like being home again. It is beautiful in any season and will put you at ease at any time of the year. The Bodega Head area is very serene and definitely presents the west coastal feeling. If you love the ocean there is no other place to view it and have it take your breath away than Bodega Head cliffs. We will definitely be back, again and again. One last thing; stop in and eat at either Luca Wharf or the Tides. Both are great.
