The house is in a quiet residential area built around a golf course. The views of the ocean and golf course are excellent. The sofas in the lounge were comfortable as were both beds. There is a flat screen TV in the lounge with a variety of streaming services including Netflix and Amazon Prime. Both bathrooms had been refurbished and the shower areas in both were clean. The shower water was hot though the shower head in the main bedroom needs descaling.

private, close to beach, wildlife viewing from deck
In response to the response from the owner regarding the closing of reception way earlier than posted. That is simply not true. It did not say that they'd be closing early and the receptionist never mentioned it. This is the only hotel on our 15 day cycling trip down the coast that insisted we lock out bikes in their storage. The receptionist was quite undriendly and uncommunicative. It is not a good feeling to arrive to such an unpleasant person.
Bodega Bay is a great place to visit. There is much wildlife to see and some really good food! We saw whales, seals, herons, cormorants etc. Visited most of the beaches up and down the coast and all are truly beautiful. The Birds Cafe is expensive but excellent- also Spuds chowder in Bodega Bay! Bakery in Duncan Mills is very, very good! Makes a very good beach get away focused on outdoor experiences! Be sure to go up to Bodega Head! Beautiful spot!
Visiting the areas where Alfred Hitchcock filmed The Birds movie was exciting, that is one of the main reasons I visited. The beaches close by are beautiful, the food fairly good. I enjoyed going to visit The Children's Bell Tower and the beautiful walking paths. The drive up to Shell Beach 7 miles away was spectacular, the walking paths well maintained and bathroom facilities made it easy to stay and explore.
Bodega Bay is very nice, the weather was just right. We visited the buildings from the movie, 'The Birds' (Potter's schoolhouse and the church), Went to the farmers market, stopped at the Salt Water Taffy Shop, drove through town, and went to the beach which was about 50 feet from where we were staying. Before we left we went whale watching only the waves were too high to out very far so we didn't get to see any whales but it was really beautiful and fun to be out on the sea.
We rewatched the movie The Birds before we went. It was fun to find all the landmarks from the movie. They are all still there. The beaches are very nice. There is camping there and I'd like to try that with my kids. The fish and chips and the clam chowder are worth the trip on there own.
We booked a one night stay in Bodega Bay to make it easier to get to our sunrise engagement shoot in the morning. The shoot itself took place at Bodega Bay Trailhead, which was stunning. I would definitely go back and hike that area. For food, we had great crab sandwiches and clam chowder from Spud Point Crab Company. Lots of folks were fishing along the bay - overall, it was a pretty relaxing place to spend a weekend.
Bodega Bay
After reading the reviews I was quite cautious of expectations. Fingers crossed we rode our motorcycle to Bodega Bay and walked in. Absolutely clean, calm, comfortable, all the hot water we could use. The staff friendly and respectful. The bed fabulous, The room lovely and the outside area a treat. I enjoyed the space far more than the Grand Hyatt in Kauai Hawaii for privacy, cleanliness, shower.
The location right on the water is great! Love the sounds, sights, smells of the bay. Love really experiencing the changing height of the tides. Love all the light from all the windows. We've stayed here many times. And certainly will again!
This is an excellent hotel ! I love the large outdoor pool and spa ! And, the view of the water was beautiful. The bedding is very nice and everything was exceptionally clean and comfortable ! I look forward to returning !
