What a beautiful, friendly town. We arrived looking for a specific location (SSV Ernestina-Morrissey) and because it was fall, there weren’t too many people to ask for directions. We found a local man who walked us (in our car) to the dock! We had a lovely stay at the Tugboat Inn right on the harbor. Our dinner at Harborside 1901 was amazing, a very friendly construction worker guided us to Waves for breakfast (a must!), and we had a great sunny day walking and shopping. Driving is a challenge with all the one-way roads, but we parked and enjoyed exploring on foot. Sea Bags Maine has incredible bags made from sails. We wish our stay could have been longer!
Boothbay Harbor is nice enough, but somewhat on the "touristy" side. We visited in late September and it was fairly busy. I imagine that in the summer it can get quite crowded. The surrounding area is interesting to explore and the nearby Botanical gardens are very impressive and very much worth a visit.
It’s a very picturesque place with friendly people. The shops were quaint but a bit pricey. The sunsets on the harbor are magnificent. We ate at the Lobster Wharf which was ok if you want an authentic meal on the wharf( it’s not fancy by any means). They ran out of beer and corn.
We've stayed at several different hotels/motels in Boothbay Harbor and Brown's is by far our favorite! Even though they don't have a restaurant anymore, their continental breakfast is above everyone else's!
Beautiful town with excellent views from many points. Great footbridge allowing you to walk from one side to the other of the town. Good shops and plenty of restaurants. Many points to view boats, lighthouses, and the coast
Loved the views, the many activities, the shopping. Friendliness of the people. 10 minute drive from the Resort to Historic Boothbay Harbor. The availability of sightseeing cruises and sailboat rides. Had 3 lb Lobster at the Boothbay Lobster Wharf sitting on the dock. The restaurant at Linekan Bay resort was par excellence.
Boothbay Harbor
The desk clerk was very accommodating to try to meet my needs considering that what I was told by the person that took my booking assured me that I was getting a room on the first floor, with two beds. I told the booking agent that I needed a room on the first floor with two beds as my husband is handicapped. As it turned out, the Fisherman's Wharf does not have such a room. It would appear that I was told whatever I wanted to hear just to make the booking. In the future I will be sure to make my reservations directly with the hotel.
