This is a beautiful city with lots to do and see. It is steeped in history and legends. Many of the sights are currently closed due to the epidemic and yet the city is thriving and alive. There are hundreds of dining options and all of them are pleasing to the palate. The University of Virginia is enormous and certainly worth one's time and energy to visit and see the historic structures.
Charlottesville is a pretty town and easy to navigate. You don't need to go far to see the surrounding countryside which is really quite beautiful. Many things to do for a wide range of interests. Historical sites, shopping, vineyards, and all that the presence of a major university offers. Although Montpelier is about a 40 minute drive from town, I would recommend taking the time to visit.
Charlottesville is a charming college town surrounded by vineyard-filled countryside and mountain views. Though the roads are quite windy, especially as you get into the nearby wine region, it was easy to get around Charlottesville by Uber/Lyft. I enjoyed the house tour of Thomas Jefferson's Monticello, and I recommend booking the earliest tour ahead of time online. Getting there soon after Monticello opened for the day allowed me to take photos of the house without crowds. Your admission includes the slavery tour, but you can also explore those fascinating exhibits at your own pace. Wine tasting was the other highlight of my trip to Charlottesville with Pippin Hill and King Family Vineyards standing out for their dry wines and mountain views. For food, I highly recommend Junction, which had delicious Southwest fare and cocktails, and Brazos Tacos for hipstery street tacos with plenty of vegetarian options and margaritas in flavors like classic lime or a refreshing watermelon.
Charlottesville is a lovely town. A great mix of all ages. The Paramount Theater is an awesome, beautiful venue. The tap house was a great experience as well with 60 different beer/cider on tap that you can pour by the ounce!
There’s a lot of history and hiking. If you can overlook the terrible drivers and politics, and just enjoy the nature and history, it’s a great place. We didn’t get to check out a lot of local eats. We were only here for a concert. But we rode the parkway for a bit and checked out some of the sights in the area. Wish we had time to go to Monticello.
Rooms were clean and everything only down side was the tv kept messing up and not many channels. There was banging and loud noises all night long cars being started and cut off to just be started again and yelling from what I would guess was other guests
The all female student staff was warm, friendly courteous and professional. Because the Inn is located in a residential permitted parking area, the staff had to park our car in a covered garage and bring it to us when requested. They were a timely free validated parking service. Free coffee, tea, water and LaCroix drinks were available. I had a delicious gourmet breakfast of Eggs Mourette at their Cafe.
