While downtown seemed dead compared to other coastal cities I have visited, we really enjoyed Jedediah Smith State Park. It was the first time my kids saw Redwood trees and the Smith river was very enjoyable as well. The Mexican restaurant we ate at was very good and it was close to the hotel.
Facilities were what we expected for the purpose of sleeping and leaving. Check in was complicated by "Booking.com" practices...and NOT satisfactory. Nothing hotel folks could do about that ... but lessons learned, if you need to "split" a bill or have two separate invoices for each party -- forget it...book the reservations separately (which you can't easily do when one pays in British pounds sterling credit card and the other uses a USA currency) HOWEVER ---- Nice place and for the amount paid, the fact we stayed less than 8 hours total, it was fine...restful and convenient.
Nice location on the beach and good food at the restaurant but other than that I have nothing nice to say about this trip. The hotel itself has become very dirty. It used to feel homey, clean and well taken care of but new ownership has caused it to go so downhill. Tile was broken in the bathroom, hole in the wall. Musty smell throughout the whole hotel but especially in the pool room which was “closed due to COVID”. Overpriced, pictures aren’t up to date, not worth your money.
Crescent City is beautiful and I wish we could have stayed longer. My sister-in-law is president of the Chamber of Commerce and always interested in the accommodations of all the motels in her city. Getting around the city is easy and I would avoid the Lighthouse Inn on my next visit.
Where else can you drive 10 minutes away and be walking thru beautiful giant redwood forests and then drive back 10 minutes to be at the beautiful Northern California ocean and beaches. Crescent city was amazing
Brookings is a short drive and is a much better town. Stay in Crescent City for the cheap(er) rooms. Go North and visit the beaches and Brookings. The restaurants are better, beaches are better, and the town is much more quaint.
The room was enormous.!We faced the hills rather than the marina, but I think the fog horn would have been annoying, so we were happy. The hotel is well-located for a walk to the marina, but a car is needed to get to Crescent City, which was disappointing apart from the lighthouse and museum. A great breakfast and dinner restaurant was a quick walk away. The redwoods are an easy drive away, as is the coast.
The breakfast was the best! Eggs, bacon, sausage, waffle makers, fruit, organic oatmeal... and more. The hotel was in a great location close to the water and close to the Redwoods. Stout Grove wasn’t far and the Smith River is a must! Cleanest river we’ve ever been in.
The room was very new. It was extremely clean. The service was great, he was super cool. Bed was wonderful. Bathroom was nice. Location was awesome. Value was great. One of the best hotels I've stayed in on my trip
Love the location. Walking distance to harbor. Restaurant next door. View was awesome. Love Crescent City. The redwoods are close. Love the mountains.

Crescent City
It was an older hotel, but the color scheme was very tranquil in the room. The lady at the front desk was super friendly and calmed me down. She was a great help to me. I will go back because of her kindness.
