The reason for our trip was the only bad part. We went for a funeral. The hotel was excellent. The location was outstanding. The management was beyond friend and helpful. I grew up just down the road in Manchester so allow elk is a great place it's not home but have a lot lot more the mt old town has. If you go to Elk go to Queenies cafe. She is great the staff is great and the food is fresh and very good.
Town is tiny but has an interesting museum, a small grocery with a deli and a great café, Queenie's, with owner and staff who make you feel like a local. Elk is a good starting point for exploring the towns along the coast and further inland. Check calendars for the many festivals in near-by areas and for whale watching season. This is the perfect place for those seeking relaxation and nature.
Even in the pouring rain, this little house was a perfect retreat on the ocean. The kitchen was well equipped, and the house was warm and cozy, even with violent winds outside. The only down side was that the beds were very soft. Like Goldilocks, my boyfriend tried both beds, both were so soft, that he slept on the floor. On the other hand, I thoroughly enjoyed sitting up in bed with my morning coffee, watching the stormy ocean right in front of the window. Loved this location. So close to the cute little deli, you could walk out for amenities. Great sandwiches/paninis at the deli, by the way.
Quiet Quaint beach town on the Mendicino Coast. Beautiful clean beaches. The winter time of our trip wasn’t full of tourist so we got to talk to tourist and really relax. Also, very limited cell service in the area if any at all. Lots of great B&B’s in the area. However, Not many restaurants or night life in Elk. Luckily, there are other towns like Fort Bragg and Mendocino which are close by !
The ocean view is priceless! We had dinner prepared by a French chef. My fillet mignon was perfect! I want more! The property is beautiful and very well maintained. Our suite was gorgeous. We only stayed one night and I wish we came up for two at least because one was not enough. But we only live an hour and a half away and so we will definitely be back!
