This hotel is located in California’s Sonoma and Napa Valley wine countries. Free Wi-Fi is in every room and a full-service spa is available at this Glen Ellen hotel. Wonderful friendly staff, beautiful rooms and grounds and a great location to explore the area from!
Featuring free WiFi and a hot tub, Jack London Lodge offers accommodations in Glen Ellen, 50 mi from San Francisco and 7.5 mi from Sonoma. The location was wonderful as was the saloon and garden featuring live music when we were there. Room was fine with comfortable bed. A very relaxing stay followed by great breakfast at the local cafe and a visit to Benzinger Winery (recommend reservations for tour).
Set in Glen Ellen, minutes from the Sonoma Square in the heart of the Sonoma Wine Country, Glen Ellen Inn Secret Cottages features a garden and terrace. The accommodations features a spa bath. It was very charming and had a lot of extra special personal touches to it . The host - Karen was very nice and very helpful . She responded right away to any questions I had and gave great suggestions. We will come back and refer people to come and visit this gem of a cottage.
If you are visiting Glen Ellen, I recommend visiting Jack London State Park for a few hours to learn about the quirky American writer and the very full life he lived with his wife Charmian. Afterwards you can head down the road and have a delicious meal at Yeti, an Indian-Nepalese restaurant. If your tastebuds aren't feeling a thrill for Indian spices there are also plenty of options for American foods as well nearby. As a first-time visitor, getting around the town might be a little confusing as the roads are a bit old and parking needs to expand a little, but many things are within walking distance anyway. The town is very quaint and has great character. It's almost like taking a step back in time but having all the modern comforts. This is a place to slow down and enjoy your surroundings. If you are in town during the morning, be sure to stop by the Garden Court cafe for some coffee and a very tasty breakfast.
I think since the rooms are all a bit different cottages, each cottage number should be listed with it's price and specific photo's so you can choose the room you want if it is available, it was a bit confusing for me when trying to figure out if I wanted a standard or deluxe room, I may have upgraded to the larger room if I could see exactly what that specific unit looked like. That is the reason I did not upgrade, however our room was pleasant, comfortable and welcoming
In the country, ten minutes from the square in Sonoma and all it has to offer. Two minutes from wineries along the Sonoma highway. Excellent restaurants right in Glen Ellen. The drive to Napa wineries is 25 minutes, and another 10 to the Silverado Trail.
Glen Ellen is easy to navigate and makes a great base to tour this section of Sonoma County. We thoroughly enjoyed Jack London State Historic Park (and learned lots about his life); the docents were very friendly and informative. Sonoma Botanical Garden was also interesting and worth a repeat visit during a different season. We had dinner at the Fig Cafe and WIne Bar and Yeti; menus were varied, and the food was delicious. Oh, and Les Pascals Patisserie is well worth a special stop. There are a ton of wineries in the area - we had reservations at Kenwood and B. R. Cohn and came home with several bottles from each winery. Staff was attentive without being overbearing. Can't think of anything to avoid - just more places to explore next time.
I much prefer the "quiet" side of wine country, aka the Sonoma Valley. It's so much less busy than Napa. If you are looking for a more relaxed, rural version for your wine country visit, this is the place for you.
I love the concept of this property. It is comprised of individual cottages with a separate living room and a separate bedroom. Loved the outdoor patio and the creekside rock garden patio. There is a little village around it and food stores with deli and hot food selections. Can't wait to go back and stay here again. I would this place a 10. Or give it 100%
The garden was quite relaxing, although felt more like we are on somebody's garden, rather than in a 4 star Ryokan retreat. Also I guess the 10 or so new Ryokan rooms might have been nice, but we never saw them. The rooms in the main house and in the pool house were a disgrace.
Chickens, cows, personnel staff , view and garden and superb location, romantic place of comfort. Thank you. please let us know when is least expensive room rates lowest rate of months during year to stay at Beltane Ranch. Thanks, Violet Espiritu
