I booked online at the last minute, and I was upgraded to a suite. It was more than I needed, but if I was to stay for multiple days, it would have been perfect. Fully equipped.

Quite and great outdoor setting. Lots to enjoy- games etc. You need to stay a week to really enjoy this type of property. We did not even turn on TV - to many other outdoor things to do.

People were very friendly, it is a small area so the weekend was plenty of time to visit the neighboring smaller towns (Prairie city) The weather was quite warm as expected and it was a long drive from the valley that we enjoyed seeing the country side. Make sure to have your car in good working condition, fill up with gas at every opportunity because there are stretches of drive with no gas options. The hometown feel was my favorite part, smiles and pleasantries everywhere!!

This is the third time or fourth time that I am rating this hotel. You need to fix your system. The best feature is the Outpost Restaurant next door. The service was efficient and friendly. The hotel needs some cosmetic repairs, but all was functional.

The town is tiny but we found two excellent places to eat. 1188 Brewing had excellent dinners and beer and the Outpost served amazing breakfasts! The location was a good base for exploring the John Day fossil beds and the Strawberry Mountain wilderness area. Kam Wag Chung Historical site was a bonus-excellent museum detailing Chinese settlement in the area.

It is an older motel that's very clean and spacious. It's on the outskirts of John Day and even with the highway near, our room was very quiet. I paid extra in order to have my dog and it was a very good location to be with a pet. The refrigerator was larger than usually seen in motel rooms which came in handy. I liked that there was an actual coffee pot for us to use. The couple running the motel were very nice.
This is a place we would have liked to stay longer. For a motel room it was incredibly spacious and comfortable, even with a reclining chair. Bathroom was clean, beds were excellent, and we had direct door-access from the parked car to the motel door, which made unloading/loading less stressful. Location was good, bars and restaurants in John Day easily reachable by foot.
We stayed for two nights. The room was clean and the bed was mostly comfortable. The breakfast was OK, normal hotel breakfast - scrambled eggs, waffles, cereal, toast, pastries, etc.. The location was good though. It is right on the Main street, ready to take you where ever you need to go.
It was terrific. Isolated and pretty surroundings yet close to the John Day attractions. There wasn't much the hosts hadn't thought of to make our stay homey and comfortable.
