About Lake Placid

Lake Placid is a charming village nestled in the Adirondack Mountains of New York, United States of America. Known for its alpine beauty, Lake Placid experiences a humid continental climate with warm, humid summers and cold, snowy winters, with temperatures ranging from 20°F in January to 70°F in July.

This picturesque village is a haven for outdoor enthusiasts. Visitors can explore the Olympic Ski Jumping Complex, hike the scenic trails of Mount Van Hoevenberg, or paddle across Mirror Lake. The village is compact, making it easy to navigate on foot or by car.

The culture of Lake Placid is deeply rooted in its natural surroundings and Olympic history. Local cuisine reflects this, with dishes like venison stew and trout caught fresh from the region's lakes. I went Sunday to Thursday in mid December, but it seems like "season" doesn't start in Lake Placid until Christmas day. A lot of attractions and restaurants are closed on Tuesday and Wednesday and it was raining the only day the speed skating oval was open for me, so I had bad luck and would plan better next time. I didn't get to do bobsled experience and other things from the legacy site and was even turned away from the Gondola at whiteface as a sight seer. So just make sure the things you want to do will be open when you go.

Lake Placid is an absolutely beautiful little town. Everything is within walking distance and there is so much to see and do. It’s pricey but there are so many beautiful little shops and places to eat. Walk the lake or climb a mountain, you’ll keep busy for days.

The hotel was great, very clean, beds comfy, great breakfasts! Staff was friendly and personable. Nice keurig coffee machine in room, so you can bring your own k cups if you want. They only have Green Mountain brand. They also have decaf. Location was the best! Not very far from anything! Loved the top of Whiteface Mountain, can access by elevator or hiking. Was a continuous fragrance of pine, reminded me of Christmas. While at the ski jumps we had a chance to see some of the 6-14 year olds practice. That was great! We had a very good meal at Black Bear Restaurant! Getting around town is very easy. All in all a great place to stay for a few days.

we participated in the Olympic venues passport choice and had a wonderful time exploring and partaking at each venue. the food at every restaurant was great, we liked the creperie and black bear restaurants. driving around was easy. We did mini golf, the visitors cruise on lake placid, had a manicure, made a bead bracelet, and browsed the shops. We also went to High falls gorge. the scenery in the area cannot be beat, the trees, mountains, and lakes are awe inspiring. i think that was my favorite part.

As indicated in the reviews, the hotel is old. But very clean, they cleaned every day for 3 days. We didn't notice any smell. Spacious room and bathroom. There is a hairdryer, iron, and plenty of towels. The appearance of the hotel scared me, but everything went great! The pool and hot tub were excellent, we enjoyed using them. Pool and breakfast across a busy street. you need to be very careful. We would have liked to add eggs and vegetables to breakfast, but we were ready for a not rich breakfast. Great hotel for this price!

This is our preferred lodging when visiting Lake Placid. Great location across from Mirror lake, close to the Oval and downtown. Complimentary hot breakfast is good and offers something for everyone. The lobby is always buzzing with kids playing, guests enjoying a hot cocoa by the fire, or people enjoying a drink at the bar and live music. This Hampton Inn consistently delivers a comfortable retreat for the whole family (including pets)!

Parking is easy -- not true of many hotels in Lake Placid Mini-fridge and (working) microwave -- again, not available in all hotels in LP Firepit, bar-b-cue and picnic tables available for guests -- again, not available at all hotels in LP I will book at the Maple Leaf Inn for Rugby weekend next year

Very nice, clean, modern and affordable rooms close to Lake placid town center and 20 min by car to Whiteface mountain ski resort. Very communicative staff. Kitchenette including both a coffee brewer and coffee machine with complimentary capsules, a toaster, microwave and fridge. Perfect for us to make breakfast in the morning. We booked a room with a king size bed which was very comfortable.

Rooms were very clean and comfortable. Loved the 2 bedroom setup with kitchenette and modernized bathroom. Staff were friendly and helpful. Lobby had a comfortable living room to relax for a little while. Pool area looked so nice along with the Adirondack chairs and fire pit overlooking Lake Placid. We couldn’t use either bc it was winter but hope to stay in the summer to enjoy both.

The price was a lot lower than surrounding hotels. I liked that it was a short driving distance to the Olympic center. Rooms were outdated but clean. There was a mini fridge in the room. The pool and hot tub seemed nice and open until I0pm, I did not go in them but my son and friends did.
