Located in Leadville, 30 miles from Frisco Historic Park and 8.1 miles from Mount Evans, Cozy Condo in the Governor's Mansion, Pets Okay! The location is excellent to get to downtown restaurants and stores. Also like that the cleaning fee was not outrageous for one night like some places.
Leadville has an old town feel with a good variety of restaurants in price and quality. Nice selection of museums, I really learned a lot at the Jewish museum. The drive to Twin lakes and Independence Pass was great.
Leadville is a town with considerable history in mining. We visited the National Mining Hall of Fame and Museum. This was a treat and very informative. We enjoyed the displays, dioramas and story boards. This museum is great for all ages. We also walked the main street and were pleased to learn it was the beginning of Boom Days, an annual festival. Leadville is located on the Scenic Byway- Top of the Rockies. The view going south on US 24 were fantastic!
Many Leadville restaurants are struggling with staffing issues. Expect to have long waits or food service not available. It seemed very odd for a tourist town to have restaurants closed for breakfast at 10:00AM on a Sunday during peak summer tourism season.
Leadville is the highest incorporated city in Noth America. It has its roots in the silver boom at the turn of the 1900s. It was a boom town and a magnet for prospectors and fortune seekers. It has a great deal of history and is the "front door" to some of Colorado highest peaks. There's breath taking scenery and history almost anywhere you look. It's a great operations base for hunting, fishing, hiking, biking, off roading and mountain climbing. You can rent almost any sporting/off-roading gear you may need to see the back country. Just be careful of the elevation. Low landers may struggle for breath as the altitude is over 10,100. A nice little local ski area, Ski Cooper, is only 20 minutes away. Avoid the crowds and ski here on the cheap.
Amazing National Minerals and Mining Museum. Beautiful old brightly painted late 19th century homes. Downtown district, museums and restaurants were within walking distance of the Inn in the Clouds Hostel. The Leadville Tourist RR was a block away.
I had no idea Leadville's global presence in the 1800's. My son and I spent hours in the Mining Museum and walking around town. Amazing history. Google "Crystal Palace" before going to Leadville then spend some time in the museum learning about it. I was amazed. We're going back!!! OH. And make sure to stop and have a burger at Wild Bill's. Best mushroom burger I've ever had.
Charming house with a great backyard. Perfect location: one block from Leadville’s Main Street, across the street from a park and the Mineral Belt Trail. Plenty of towels and blankets-everything we needed. Room for everyone to sleep comfortably and a bathroom on each floor. The washer and dryer are so convenient. We would stay again. Excellent value!
At check-in, Jason was super helpful and friendly. Our room was clean and comfortable. Good selection for breakfast in the morning. Also, the hotel is biker friendly!
I liked that it was situated in a good area of Leadville.
