One of our favorite rides on our tandem bicycle is the Mineral Belt Trail. We ride it every year. The Columbine Inn is 1/2 mile from the trail, connected by sidewalk, easy access. We had and enjoyable lunch at the Golden Burro, an historic cafe in downtown Leadville. Our favorite dinner restaurant, the Tennessee Pass Cafe, was sadly closed for cleaning but we were very fortunate to find the Treeline Kitchen just in time to get a table on the patio next to the fire pit, and enjoyed a very elegant meal. They also have a rooftop patio which we visited, exceptional panoramic view of downtown and the surrounding mountains. Leadville is a refreshing step back in time to a friendly and unpretentious mountain town with lots of Colorado history.

Leadville has so much charm and that laid back mountain town feel. Everyone is so friendly. Unbeatable views everywhere you go and awesome attractions. Also there is SOOO many outdoor things to do! Love the hiking in the area and the Mineral Belt Trail is an amazing trail to ride on with all the old mines to look at with educational signs helping you know what's what. Will be back again and again!
Leadville is a beautiful little town with many beautiful mountains fairly close by, and a great ski area about 12 miles away. It's a great get-away with a good grocery store, Family Dollar, and nice downtown shops. Also some very good restaurants.
*twin lakes was amazing for camping Highly recommended and go early! We got a great spot. Then there was downtown Leadville. Really historic, no uber, lyft or bus from one end of town. If you wanna ride, call Katy Kat, she's awesome! Charge only $10 for less than 4 miles and she took us through the residential area and even gave us a mini historical tour to avoid traffic. She has lived there all her life so she knows everything! If you're in town hit her up! number is 7192391382. Down side. Well, servers are rude in downtown. Don't go to quincy for cheap and Mediocre prime rib with a side of attitude from the server nor the oldest saloon in town yet again for bad service. You think small town of trailer parks would love to have in state tourists over tipping and being generous. Well nope.. the bar tender at the oldest saloon trying to charge my bf twice, same bartender spilling my drink as he handed to me and said, well I over poured and you won't finish it anyway. Ok fair. Then when I asked for another drink, and than not making it until we were about to leave after a good amount of time passed. Go to twin lakes for camping PLEASE bypass the downtown area, don't stay that extra night in town after you camp if you could avoid it. Don't spend money in downtown otherwise You'll be confronted with passive aggressive racists.
Houses must be pristine during this Covid experience. When we saw the filthy on the kitchen chairs and the continued of the couch, it turned us off to the entire stay. The upper bunk is way too close to the ceiling. My husband had to take a cold shower because of the small water tank. You should have an instant on tankless hot water heater. There was no light above the mirror to put on make up. Loved the wood and style of the house. Seemed clean I all other areas.
