Last time I was in Minneapolis it was fantastic. Now in 2023 it’s gone downhill and I will not return. The sad thing is that it’s got great music venues and food but the neighborhoods are sketchy now.
This was my first visit to Minneapolis and I was impressed with the city. Very nice, clean and I felt safe. Drove over to Nicolette Island just to look around. That’s a very quaint place. I ate at a Thai restaurant and the food was really good. As a 77 year old woman traveling alone, I must say I felt safe. Thoroughly enjoyed my trip!
We visited to see the Golden Gopher home opener against the Nebraska Cornhuskers. Gophers won in the last second of the game. The Cornhuskers "Almost always almost win". Did so again on our visit. Cornhuskers as fans? Obnoxious, screaming, crimson-clad noise makers. As people outside the stadium? WONDERFUL folks. The Downtown Marriott was a perfect compliment to a wonderful visit.
Enjoyed staying in the Warehouse District, closer to the river and the walks you can take there, rather than downtown. There are also a lot of interesting restaurants that you can easily walk to, as well as a Trader Joe's and Whole Foods. (Unfortunately in opposite directions from where I was staying.) A Gray Line bus tour was useful in giving me a sense of the layout of the Twin Cities and what I would want to see if I had a longer time to spend.
There are so many great restaurants in downtown Minneapolis; Hell's Kitchen, Manny's Steakhouse, and Murray's, to name only a few. If you have a car and love burgers, try a Jucy Lucy. I'd go with Matt's Bar first (it's not in downtown Minneapolis). You will never get bored with the great museums; Mill City Museum, Walker, MIA, and tons of great theaters along Hennepin Ave.
The location was very excellent, BUT WE THOUGHT WE COULD WALK to the Facility from the Airport; it was explained to us by the Shuttle Driver that the Causeway was closed due to Covid (???) The room itself was very clean, comfortable, great soundproofness (word,??!!), quiet
My daughter will be attending Minnesota University and we wanted to get acclimated to the area. The location was perfect! The staff were very helpful and courteous. I had to call the front desk to make them aware that our air was not working. Within minutes maintenance was in the room assessing the situation and made us aware that it was not going to be an easy fix. The gentleman left and when he returned, he gave us new room keys. The hotel upgraded us to a suite to compensate. I thought that was an excellent gesture!
The room was OK, nothing special but a very nice shower. The building is nice, an old bank converted into a hotel. Other than that, not up to Westin standards. The only (very) bright spot was Natasha at the check-in counter, very nice, efficient and very helpful in giving us directions and suggesting places to go.
Downtown Minneapolis, Minneapolis
We liked the close proximity to the airport, the event we attended and various restaurants located nearby. The property itself seems nice but we didn’t explore it much - this is more of an Airbnb style stay rather than a hotel; I.e hotel services, regular housekeeping, etc.
Location in Warehouse District near Target Field and close to light rail was very good. While the area lacks a lot of retail, there is a Whole Foods about three blocks away. The hotel is an adaptive reuse of an old warehouse with many architectural features preserved.
My son and I stayed for two nights while in Minneapolis. The building is within walking distance of the TC arena and there are several restaurant options close by. The room was spacious and welcoming. Everything you could need is there.
The only advantage is that the hotel is located in front a much better hotel where you can attend the event (conference or other) you actually are in town for. Nothing else to be appreciated.
Great hotel and service. Since it is located downtown and centre of the city, it gets very loud at night. There were huge events happening in the area hence, the loud noise and busy streets.
Great value for one of my favorite hotels downtown Minneapolis. The staff is always friendly and the hotel has always been nice and quiet when I stay. I love the large rooms and bathroom!
The room was a great size, the breakfast was one of the best we have had at a free breakfast, the hotel enforced the quiet hours, and the location was easy to access.
Very pleasant hotel, close to the airport, available on short notice. Large room with huge window overlooking airport runway. Good in room coffee (Nespresso).
Great hotel with very friendly staff. I didn't get to use the bars, restaurants or fitness centre due to work but it all looked great... maybe next time.
Minneapolis
Exceptionally well located in one of the prettiest neighborhoods of Minneapolis, very close to its gorgeous lakes.
We love how clean the room is and the location of the hotel. It is so accessible going to downtown Minneapolis.
