Loved the spa overall and the breakfast is great! Wish there were more included options, seems like they started charging for items that used to be a part of the breakfast experience. Still amazing though! Wonderful staff and facilities. DoorDash friendly. Perfect location!

Nice part of town is down by marina.

Nice part of town is down by marina. Local Ocean and Clearwater have great food/fish. Cute little town up the coast is Depot Bay with smallest marina in Oregon. Otter Rock, The Flying Dutchman winery, Yaquina Head Lighthouse and Sea Lion Caves south towards Florence are worth visiting.

Newport has a lot to offer.

Newport has a lot to offer. Great beaches, history, a wonder aquarium and a world class Marine Science Center. Restaurants with really fresh seafood and other options. Brew pubs to fine dining. Just walking the docks is fun.

The rooms are very nice and each one has its own type of decor. It’s always clean and the staff is super nice and helpful. We ate at the chalet restaurant it was very good homemade feel. Also got clam chowder and halibut fish and chips at the little place just across the bridge

I personally always loved going to Newport for my beach trips. The beach doesn’t get as crowded as Seaside and I personally love the small town feel of it. There’s plenty of hotels that get a great view and so many activities to chose from. The aquarium is amazing and ripleys believe it or not is a must go. There’s even charters and discovery boat tours to go on which I think is really cool

Approaching Newport, stopped in Florence, to the Sea Lion...

Approaching Newport, stopped in Florence, to the Sea Lion Cave (America's largest sea cave) saw breeding sea lions & birds. Drove on to Yachats to the Heceta Head Lighthouse and toured the Settlement House (is a Bed & Breakfast). In Newport saw the Yaquina head lighthouse (no tours available) went by the Yaquina Bay State Park saw a historic lighthouse. Bought old fashion candy near Hooked Up seafood restaurant for lunch ( Ate Fish and chips, someone at table had clam chowder). Was able to see whale spouts in the Pacific Ocean from Newport.

Newport is a working town, not just touristy.

Newport is a working town, not just touristy. There are tourist attractions, like Nye Beach and the historic waterfront, but there are people with real jobs and careers, not just catering to tourists. Gas is cheaper here than in the valley. Across the river is the Marine Science Center and the Oregon Aquarium. We used to go there a lot with kids, but now they don't travel with us any more. Other things near Newport are very nice for the outdoorsy types. Lots of hiking, biking, kite flying, etc.

The Sholo has been in Newport for decades... it needs to be updated. Starting with the T.V., first update with a flat screen and possibly the sunshade that might have been ripped out a few visits earlier then our visit. Simple solution for a simple stay. They view is spectacular out the ocean window and we really enjoyt this. Glad to have a coffe pot that Vegas hotels don't have....

This hotel had a beautiful view of the ocean, the staff were super friendly and the breakfast was never busy and had many options. The rooms were clean and up-to-date. The beds were very comfortable and when you add the free salmon chowder and cookies in the evening it would be very hard to not recommend this hotel. Next time I am in Newport and I definitely staying here.
