Close to the university, which was our destination. Easy to get to, quiet neighborhood and close to restaurants, bars, and a drug/convenience store. We had wings and beer at Ticket Bar and Grill. Cookies in the lobby are a nice touch.

Raise a glass to Commerce Street Brewery Hotel. Equal parts small town B&B and living history museum, Commerce Street Brewery Hotel offers do-it-yourself room service and a brewery that churns out... Beautiful historic building, restaurant and, brewery. All staff was friendly and great. They even left a note with more towels and supplies since my 14 year old son was with us. Comfortable bed, clean bed and breakfast air conditioning was just right. I would like to come in the winter and use fireplace and large whirlpool tub.
Platteville is a working class small city in Wisconsin that includes a branch of the University of Wisconsin usually associated with training teachers. The city is not particularly attractive, but, if you are a “Platteville parent” you will have a pleasant place to visit with nice people. Not a bad way to spend weekends/game days, etc., the next four years.
I grew up here so it was a bit of a nostalgic trip for me. Travelers should definitely experience the revitalized main street, city park and mining museum. Steve's Pizza is still going strong and as good as ever!
Platteville was my hometown and I returned there for my high school reunion. I think it's a great place to visit. There are a lot of new businesses on Main Street. I'd like to spend more time checking them out.
If you like pizza you have two main options. For Chicago style you gotta do Uno's. For more of a Mediterranean style pizza, Steve's pizza. Both great values. When in Platteville, you have to go see the world's tallest M.
I stayed in Platteville as it was the closest to Dubuque for a reasonable cost. I attended a local church and was warmly greeted. I visited the Rollo Jamison Museum and toured the mine. I didn't want a chain for lunch, nor an ethic food lunch, so ended up driving to Dodgeville for barbeque, which was on my way home.
