Fantastic, quaint little town in beautiful countryside. Every single person we met in town was exceptionally friendly and accommodating. The town itself is extremely pet friendly and tourists everywhere has their dogs with them.
There's a lot to do and see but it can get crowded. However Plenty of amenities for all who visit. Great food, wine and scenery. There's hiking. Biking. Zip lining and wine tasting. I'm not much of a writer.
Solvang is a beautiful city full of friendly people. We only noticed two chains (Dominos and Subway) and they blended right in. Every other shop we saw was a small, local business. There are lots of places to go wine tasting, and a favorite activity for me and my son was to wander to various places to put together a picnic meal (cheese and meat from Cailloux Cheese, a pretzel and potato salad from the sausage garden, etc.) We felt very welcomed everywhere we went and really enjoyed the small town feel. It was the perfect place for a getaway that really felt like we were on vacation instead of in another southern California city. We will be back!
Small city ideal for 1-2 day visits and stays. Good food options and coffee shops. Visiting and feeding ostrichs in Ostrich Land is recommended. Worth for short distance travel and stay especially for LA and SFO area
I have no idea in the world why anyone would visit the fake town of Solvang to hang out (omg, especially Europeans, who are all over it!). It's the midway point between the Bay Area and Joshua Tree, which is why we stayed overnight there, but honestly...
Fun and walkable downtown with "Danish" touch. Beautiful buildings and lots to do and eat at every turn. Would recommend staying on or near Mission Drive and get our early, most restaurants/bars close by 10pm even on the weekends. And if you like wine there are tons of tasting rooms. Gerlach Photography Gallery and Olsen's Bakery were my favorite places, both on Mission Drive.
