Offering an outdoor pool and free WiFi, Terlingua Ranch Lodge is a 425-acre resort located in Terlingua,Texas, 34 mi from Big Bend National Park. Quite, no light pollution. Good place to escape too.
Free Wi-Fi access, a full-service spa and a variety of dining options featuring gourmet West Texas cuisine are among the distinct amenities provided at this Texas resort, just outside the scenic Big... The location is great. It is right there at the resort versus having to drive 18 miles to Terlingua to eat one of the other restaurants. The live music was awesome. Everybody would join in singing parts of the chorus with the entertainer. The breakfast buffet was delicious also!
Located in the historic Terlingua Ghost Town, this hotel is just 7.5 miles from scenic Big Bend National Park. An on-site restaurant and free WiFi access is featured. Clean rooms. Extremely comfortable bed. Location.
I enjoyed the quiet and solitude however I would have really appreciated a coffee maker and refrigerator in the room. I enjoy a cup of coffee before having to get dressed. Staying here I had to get dressed and go to the on-site restaurant to buy coffee. So if you have a small travel coffee maker take it!
This a good spot to visit. It is much more diverse than what one would expect. All the people we met were helpful. We ate at too many places to mentioned, mostly Mexican, Tex-Mex, and breakfasts. For me the reason to go there is the Park and I have rafted and biked there -- good for both.
Terlinqua is a very interesting place to visit. It is laid back and the history of the ghost town is surprising. The locals hang around the general store, Starlight Theater as both have wonderful finds and great food. Other than that the main thing is to float the Rio Grande and explore the Big Bend National Park and learn about the land and its history.
If you are staying for a few days and have children. Bring your coffee makers and microwave, there are none in the room and the cafe closes early. Also, please be sure to check your room before jumping in to bed, we found a scorpion in our room that ended crawling up my husbands leg. You will be out in the wilderness!
We loved the Chili Pepper Cafe...we did the National Park one day, the State Park...all the way to Presidio (stop in at the headquarters and get maps and info.). The Bean restaurant is very good there. We loved the HooDoos! Impressive drive! We went back to the National Park the next day. Our favorite sites there were: Boquillas, the Window, the Hot Springs, Santa Elena Canyon, the Grapevine Hills Trail and the balanced Rock at the end of it. We also loved the scenic drive and Sam Nail farm. We are elderly, so only did the easy trails!
The place was much farther off the road than we had expected. The area is very picturesque however. The facilities are clean, the price is decent, and the food was good. They just need some pavement to make it more biker friendly.

The location to visit Big Ben is great. The room is very basic so I like to think of it more as a cabin then a hotel.
