Although the city is bisected by a busy freeway and a rail line, it's a great place to shop, walk along the beach, and as a more reasonably priced place to stay for visits to Santa Barbara and Ojai.
We went for the International Heirloom Exposition. It was fantastic!!! If you like to garden, I highly recommend it. Then we got to experience a little bit of Ventura. Their downtown/midtown gets a little crazy for us, but we found a ton of other eating options. I highly recommend Fresh Grill Ventura @ Main St & S. Santa Rosa St. Their breakfast bowl is the best!!! Fresh veggies and so tasty.
We really liked visiting Ventura. It was so nice that it wasn't too crowded, didn't have to wait long for a table at the restaurants, even on the weekend. The main street area is really nice to walk through with restaurants, bars, shops, and live bands. Beaches were not too crowded. Nice small town for a family getaway.
Found an exceptional family restaurant just 1/2-mile from the hotel. It was the Black Bear. The had an extensive menu and each item was delicious. We drove to Santa Paula, which had nothing to offer. On to Ojai, which had nothing to offer if you don't play golf. Ventura's main street downtown (which I had enjoyed years ago) was closed off to traffic and only open to foot traffic. As I'm disabled and it was raining, I had to miss that. Old town Oxnard is dirty and rundown. The new section of Oxnard near the Costco and Auto Mall was new, but filled with chain stores.
Ventura is a magical place and has tons of fun things to do. We did visit a amazing restaurant for dinner our first night. Cafe Fiore had AMAZING food and drink. In the downtown area, and after we walked around the area, streets are closed off so walking only, was nice!
Ventura is amazing for traveling to the beach, dinner on restaurants w live music.....,sports,surfing,ride bike, skate.shopping, water tours at the marina or walks your dog...just to have fun with nature and locals
Ventura
first off, I thought I was renting at inn on the beach vs shores inn. i was super upset at first but once I got there it was totally fine. The location was perfect, maybe not on the beach but only a block away. Also the liquor store across the street was more like a convenience store and anything we needed was steps away. The shower pressure was AMAZING!!!
Had a very nice time but it was the most we had ever spent at a hotel and I thought that although it was clean I like the fresh towels and the bed made when we come back to our room but thats just me. Maybe I need to step up with the times and the new covid rules
Spacious room, great bathroom and amenities in the room. Asked for a room high up and quiet and received one. Thanks to Erika, she was really nice at the reception. First stop at the beach, the hotel is located at a highway and it is a 10 min walk to the beach.
the hotel was located close enough to the Ventura Harbor that you could be considered on the water. trendy shopping area within walking distance. Ocean, sand, surfing and sand volleyball.
Near beaches and downtown; restaurants, gas and shopping very close. Free coffee in the lobby. Staff were friendly. Shower had plenty of water pressure. Plenty of parking spots.
The place is nice, clean, and the staff is very friendly and helpful. Wifi was wobbly. We found it a bit expensive. It is very close to Ventura pier, which is worth visiting.
Loved the location of this hotel! 1 block from the thrift shops and plenty of food choices. Bonus: attached to Blue Agave bar and restaurant!
great views, walking distance for morning sunrise walks on the beach, walking distance to restaurants and just a great location in general.
The rooms are large and the location of the hotel is very convenient for downtown Ventura.
location very easy .walking distance to beach and center. near to food.easy parking
The location is great for getting to the beach, downtown, the harbor.
