Located on the black sands of Kauai, the oldest of the Hawaiian Islands, these oceanfront cottages in Waimea have been restored with plantation-period furniture and feature patios overlooking the... The grounds were gorgeous and spacious with beautiful trees, hammocks stunning views. It felt like a uniquely, authentically Hawaiian experience compared to the busy resort hotels.
Set in the Waimea Park, The Cabins at Kokee is 5.6 mi from Waimea Canyon. A full kitchen is available in each cabin. Polihale Beach is 11 mi from the property. Love LOVE the kokee cabins!! Staff at West Kauai Lodging are excellent, and my family and I absolutely love the cabins.
Sitting near a black-sand beach, West Kauai Lodging is located in Waimea. This beachfront holiday park sits at the entrance to Waimea Canyon and Kokee Park. Compared to other Hawaiian hotels (inns, motels, etc.), the price is good for the value. No bugs. I stayed in the Bamboo Room, which is a small suite of three rooms. It was like a real vacation home.

Located in Lawai, 22 mi from Princeville, Marjorie's Kauai Inn features a year-round outdoor pool, barbecue and terrace. We enjoyed an amazing stay at Marjorie's Kauai Inn. Sarah, the hostess was so gracious and genuine. She took such good care of us! One morning during our outstanding breakfast on the lanai we were treated to a splendid double rainbow!! She had numerous suggestions and secured reservations for us that afforded ideal experiences. The location was breathtaking and offered all kinds of equipment like beach towels, umbrellas, beach towels and even windbreakers for our boating excursion. We enjoyed the refreshing salt water pool every day. The food was healthy, generous and so beautifully presented. It was a dream vacation as a result. We are so grateful for having discovered this B&B.

The town of Waimea is quaint and serene...it's a slower pace. Lunch at Wranglers was excellent and the sweet bread pudding was so delicious. JoJo's shave ice is a must have! My kids enjoyed it multiple times on our trip. We enjoyed walking on the black sand beach, looking for seashells and neat pieces of drift wood. This a very tranquil spot on Kauai and we can't wait to come back.
Loved staying at the Waimea Cottages. Super sunsets and brilliant night skies. Never really spent time in town, except grocery shopping and the main (only?) grocery store should satisfy most/all of your needs. The beach at Polihale is a must see/walk and if the surf isn't too rough, swim. The hikes up Waimea Canyon and Ko'kee are okay but expect lots of muddy slipping and sliding. The views of the Napali Coast at the end of the Waimea Canyon road are incredible, as was a boat trip along the coast (whales, dolphins, manta rays, and turtles too!). However, the bloody helicopters buzzing in and out of the canyon are a noisy nuisance and should be banned.
Waimea Canyon and it’s surrounding area are unusually beautiful. It’s an ever changing world of its own with marvelous vistas, waterfalls and sweet bird sounds. You must stay a couple of nights and take the myriad of hikes available. Remember the temperature is cooler at this altitude and it rains more often which can be a nice little respond from heat at lower elevation. Enjoy!
Renting a car to get around is a must, and you'll enjoy driving up the canyon and stopping along the way to take in the views! Hiking spots are all over! Drive to the very top to both lookouts for some incredible views!!
We enjoyed the small town atmosphere of Waimea. Ishira’s grocery and deli is great for lunch and dinner supplies. They have large local shrimp twice a week which are delicious on the grill. We also bought marinated chicken and pork, very tasty. We’re not shoppers, but we did buy some t-shirts and dresses at Red Dirt T-Shirts. The quality is good and prices are reasonable. Big Save grocey is reasonably priced and has all the staples. We drove to Waimea Canyon and Polihale Beach nearby. They are naturally breathtaking and wild. We drove to the north side of the island, enjoyed the green vegetation and moisture and happily returned to warm, sunny, dry and quiet Waimea.
Beautiful island. Most business owners do not allow you to use the restrooms even when you are spending money in their restaurant or store. They say they do not have a rr and send you to the beach or public park. Nasty facilities there!! But that is the whole island. Not just waimea.

This Property is a secret hideaway. We attended a wedding while at the property and it was very special. The staff were very attentive and helpful. Even the grounds staff. A wonderful property to get that true local feel. My kids loved the open space. Would highly recommend PORKY's Food Van for lunch in Waimea Town.
