Located in Matsumoto in the Nagano region, 1組貸切りの宿 Thank you Hippo 2 -NIKAI 二階- has a balcony and quiet street views. This property offers access to a terrace, free private parking and free WiFi. The property is non-smoking and is situated 500 metres from Matsumoto Station.

This place was cute, comfortable, clean, and cozy. Check in and check out were a breeze. The host was very generous and allowed us to store our luggage when we arrived early, and after we checked out for a few hours to accommodate our train schedules. This is a great location, just 10 min walk from the train station and right off the canal. The interior was extremely spacious (especially compared to our small hotel rooms in Osaka/Tokyo). We stayed here with 3 adults but could have comfortably fit several more. Everything was clearly labeled so it was easy to move about the house. Host was responsive to messages on Booking.com and over e-mail. Would definitely stay here again and will be recommending it to friends traveling to Japan later this year.

Very friendly host who, despite not speaking English, tries really hard to help and provide all the necessary information. Plus he truly values his guets as he takes his time to prepare a nice breakfast for you. He also called for my taxi I needed to get to the train station. The room was small but cosy and the indoor onsen was also great - a nice way to relax once more before the vacation ends ;)

Great little place to stay for a night (or longer). We had a Family Bungalow for 4 of us, but can take 6. There is a large room downstairs with kitchen, dining table, sofa, TV etc. Shower and toilet are also downstairs. Upstairs is a large tatami mat area with up to 6 futons. Warm, clean and comfortable.

The guesthouse is convenently located few km off the main road between Takayama and Matsumoto. The location is on a countryside, close to Bandokoro falls, and within short drive from the Kamikochi reserve. The restoraunt on the facility is very nice. The breakfast was served at a chosen time (readymade, tasty, but less varied than buffet-style). The place has two onsens (which you have to reserve).

The building has a beautiful architecture, with split level design and backing onto a small river side garden with sauna. The garden was perfect for morning coffees and exercise, or a sunset beer. The family were incredibly hospitable and kindly gave us lifts to trailhead and helped us plan journey to and from via public transport. The hot tub was great to relax in.

I liked the private onsen that we can book with our room magnets. Breakfast was simple and good and there were surprisingly many eateries around the area. Room and main area/fireplace area with books were all cozy.

Kamikochi is famous in Japan for its mountain vistas, hiking and lodges. Nishi-itoya is a landmark building located near the Kappabashi Bridge, an easy walk from the bus terminal. Its alpine architecture hides the fact that a comfortable Japanese ryokan lurks inside. The spacious rooms overlook the river with Japanese maples framing the view. Beautiful multi course meals are a great addition although not cheap. The changeable weather at Kamikochi meant we always had a cosy retreat to watch the weather play out around us.

We absolutely loved our stay in the cute cottage! It was nice and cozy, perfect for a night in the woods. We arrived in the afternoon and checked in at the main building. The staff was really friendly and welcoming, answering all of our questions and giving us a lot of recommendations. We rented a bonfire set and enjoyed the evening grilling vegan sausages and other veggies that we bought at nearby roadside stations and hanging out by the fire. We do hope to find some time and come back soon!
