MozambiqueIt was wonderful to stay at the Rooisand Desert Ranch, which is a great location in a very beautiful area near the Gamsberg Nature Reserve and mountain (approximately 10 km away but in easy viewing distance). The ranch is a natural stop for people traveling between Windhoek and the coast and/or desert. The area has a very clear sky at night, and people sometimes come from afar to watch the stars. There is a path / dirt road to a viewing / stargazing platform a few kilometers from the ranch. It is within easy walking distance, but it is also possible to drive there. I went for a random morning walk in in the neighboring hills and encountered several zebra, springboks and many different kinds of birds. The management and staff were very hospitable and welcoming.
