The hotel dates back to 1859, so the rooms are small but very comfortable with lots of character and, of course, upgraded. Great location in the middle of the old gold-mining town of Jamestown, within walking distance to eateries if you choose not to eat at the hotel restaurant. Staff were outstanding, so helpful.

The property is older, but the room is clean! We initially didn’t purchase to use the jacuzzi tub, but it was clean so decided to pay for the up grade. The property is quiet, but walkable to Main Street.

Recently updated inside. New paint, etc. An older historic hotel. Clean and met our three day stay needs well. The desk staff were all nice and helpful. The helped us out on several occasions. The downtown area is there for strolling , shopping, eating and bar hopping. Breakfast was nice, coffee was hot, food acceptable for a classic hotel self serve offering.

The breakfast was very special. The owner's stories about the history of the inn were very enjoyable. We have recommended the inn to friends

The old west antiques and layout of the hotel was awesome. The Staff ‘Hey’ was generous and helpful.
Jamestown goes back to the California gold rush. It is a small town, about 3000 people, but its small downtown has a lot of character. We stayed at the historic National Hotel right on the main street and we are glad we did. It dates back to 1859. Be sure to checkout the Railway museum about a 15 minute walk from the downtown. They have old engines and rolling stock that have been used in dozens of movies (like High Noon, Unforgiven and Back to the Future III) and TV shows (like Gunsmoke, Bonanza, Wild Wild West). There are multiple wineries nearby also.

Very fun place to stay! Our room was very comfortable. Good bed.
Extremely nice bathroom. It was 108 degrees outside and we were
completely comfortable--and I am one of those people who is not happy when the temp is over 72 degrees.
Also--nice staff.
We ate at the hotel (dinner and breakfast) and both were just fine.
I felt like the chef/staff were really trying.

A small, quiet little town which appeared to be closed for most of our stay. We should really have done better research. Sonora is a few minutes up the road and ticked every box but didn't have Jamestown's peace.

our visit to Jamestown was to experience the gold rush days. Staying at the National was part of traveling back in time. The hotel provided an authentic experience. Paired with a gold panning tour, this made the experience worthwhile. Be prepared to not have some of the modern amenities available as this is part of the experience. Did not have a chance to dine at the hotel restaurant, but did find some adequate dining in nearby Sonora.

Pleasant, historical Gold Rush town almost due west of the San Mateo County coast & bay. Small enough to walk around in a few minutes. I ate at the Jamestown Hotel & at the Service Station. Delicious dinners, & the Service Station has a great beer selection. Jamestown's location is perfect for the Sonora Pass, Columbia Historical Park, Highway 49 (the Gold Chain Highway) and Yosemite.

Jamestown was a cute little town. Not much to it.
Jamestown was a cute little town. Not much to it. We had a great meal and a beer at "The Service Station"--would recommend the restaurant highly. We only stayed there prior to a 3 day rafting trip we were taking out of Groveland. Everything in Groveland was VERY expensive. Just was appalled at the accommodations at the Royal Carriage Inn in Jamestown.
The property was like stepping back in time. The host Heather was wonderful. I loved her so much.
The hotel definitely had a few segments of entertainment through the late night and early morning. Boy did our friend Flo like the rattle of the door knobs and opening door possibly just to check in on the new comers when one would leave the room. The stairs had a mysterious walker at night.
The room was beautiful and the bathroom was wonderful and neat with a great shower.
The Palm Hotel is a fantastic place. You can experience the spirit of the old times. The hotel was build in 1890 and it used to be a luxury place back than. If you like to experience the warm hospitality and the flair of the Gold rush time, it is a perfect place to stay. The "Double Delight" room has a twin bathtube bathroom! A very nice breakfast is included in the price.
The apartment was cozy and cute with modern amenities. Great walk-in shower! The location was very central in the historic town of Jamestown, with old west charm. There were plenty of places to walk to and we enjoyed the local restaurants. Easy check in. A good base if you are checking out the area.
My husband and I stayed here for our honeymoon. We loved everything about this place. The employees were amazing 🤩. They helped us find a place that was walking distance from the hotel to eat dinner. They pointed out a place where we could go eat breakfast in the morning. It was nice and quiet.
History lesson of the gold rush days. If you’d always wanted to stay in a hotel like the ones in westerns this is the one for you. The journals from other people that stayed in the room were very entertaining.
The staff was exceptionally friendly and the rooms super clean and newly renovated. Quiet air-condition, beautiful window shades, wonderful balcony. It's a great hotel at an awesome price.
This was a very nice place to stay , the staff were so friendly and the hotel was so clean , I would love to stay there again anytime , what a great hotel
