The De Saram House is a beautiful architectural gem in the heart of a leafy neighborhood in central Colombo. I stay here whenever I am in town as it is comfortable with restrained elegance and always affable, kind and generous staff. Why stay in a bland hotel when you can be in a home of architectural significance and feel like you can escape from it all?! We were only in Columbo for one night at the end of our 2 week trip to Sri Lanka but wished we could have stayed here longer. We booked a suite and a double room, both of which were furnished to a very high standard. We generally like to go out and discover different restaurants but due to time we had lunch in the hotel which was Thai and Japanese. The food was so good that we had dinner there too! There are restaurants on the ground floor and also the rooftop which was lovely at night to eat under the stars. Great cocktails too.
