Exactly as I expected. The host is amazing and made me feel right at home. We spoke at lengths about how amazing of a place Kusatsu is, and it definitely was the highlight of my trip. Will have to go next time I'm in Japan

Very nice tatami and super comfortable beds and the private room we booked came with a mini fridge and plenty of space which was very nice. Plus the staff was absolutely wonderful and very kind, even giving us a map of the town and recommending some onsen facilities for us Which was super helpful for us!

It was fun to have a pension experience with dinners and breakfast provided. Everything was tasty. Dinner drinks not included but there was a good wine list to go with the continental dinner cuisine. Really nice onsen bath inside with genuine local hot spring water (full of minerals, very hot, slightly sour) in the wood & tile tub.

    The room was clean and warm. There are no more than 4 people in the "hostel" style room. The location of the guesthouse is close to the center of Kusatsu, so it's easy to get around. The staff was also really helpful.

    Amazing host and location! Slept like a baby because it’s so comfortable 👍 highly highly recommend anyone who is looking for a cost-effective stay in Kusatsu ❤️ also! It’s a beautiful Japanese home converted into a guesthouse. as authentic as it gets. Will be back when I’m visiting again. Will definitely get the private room too
