This was living with a family in their home. They treated us like family and even took us on tour around the area and to the beach. They don't have a lot but offered us everything. Marta even washed our riding gear and coffee and food were constantly given to us. This is not a 5-star hotel but the experience was 10-star. It was tough to say goodbye the following day as it truly felt like we were leaving family. We took them out for supper and had a fabulous time. If you want to experience the true way of life staying with Max and Martha is a fantastic eye-opener and a wonderful experience you won't find anywhere else.

Hostal y Mirador la Chaguita was an excellent place to stay. It’s near the ferry in Moyogalpa (although an extra 800 meters farther up the hill than google maps says), and the owners will give you a ride for $1.50 USD (which I recommend - the walk was a lot with luggage). The place is beautiful with amazing views and the hosts/owners are warm and lovely people. They cooked us a delicious breakfast and made fresh juice in the morning, all for a very reasonable price. The hosts were also very responsive via WhatsApp before we arrived, and they helped us arrange transportation for the following day (and can help set up tours, etc if you wish). I definitely recommend staying here!

Ophelia y Jocasta are the kindest and sweetest hosts ever. Enjoying a cup of coffee outside near where they have a fountain and watching the birds come up to bathe themselves is very serene. The location is in a neighborhood so it doesn’t feel touristy at all.

I love how quiet the area is. It is a walk away from the city center and the beach but not too bad. I love the pool and how clean the room was. I really enjoyed using the kitchen because it was so clean and the utensils were kept in good conditions. There was a bit of a misunderstanding on my end as I thought I booked a full room but it was instead a dorm (still good because no one was there during my visit anyways). They provided you towels, shampoo, and soap (like a mini hotel). Love that there was also a TV in the dorm to relax and enjoy some entertainment. I also love the big lockers they have and it even has keys too!

Danilo was the perfect host. The property was very clean and new, with a nice garden area. Danilo was helpful in every aspect. Whether it was getting a great deal for a scooter, or recommendations on where to eat or what activities were available, he was on top of it all. You get a great place to stay and a wealth of information. You will not do better at this price point. Thank you Danilo

I left two pouches with my passport, money, and everything important I was traveling with at the Guest House Nena when I departed to take a ferry back to San Jorge. I had no idea I had left them! They were under a sheet on the bed that I had inadvertently covered them with. After the people at the Guesthouse found my pouches and their valuable contents, they looked around for me, and the young lady from the Nena eventually ended up boarding ferry before we left and asked for me. Fortunately, she found me. I thanked her profusely and gave her a hug. I was extremely happy and grateful to have my stuff and to have adverted a semi-disaster. I owe that girl and the Guest House Nena in Moyogalpa….
