Tangmo House

Chang Phueak, Chiang Mai

Situated in Chiang Mai and with Chang Puak Market reachable within 1.6 km, Tangmo House features express check-in and check-out, non-smoking rooms, a shared lounge, free WiFi throughout the property and a terrace. The property is around 1.6 km from Kad Suan Kaew Shopping Centre, 1.8 km from Nimman Haemin and 2.3 km from Chang Puak Gate. The hostel has family rooms. This is a gorgeous family run hostel. I stayed with three friends and we had our own space on one side of an 8 bed dorm. The beds were comfy and had curtains for privacy. Each of us had a reasonably sized locker and the room had a balcony too. The place was very clean and bright and there were lots of bathrooms. The hosts were also very helpful with tours - we did a temple tour with the hostel and they brought us to three really nice and different temples outside Chiang Mai town before bringing us to a nice restaurant for lunch. We also booked airport transfers with them and they helped us get a discount on our trip to an elephant sanctuary. It is in a very good location - there are plenty of shops and restaurants nearby and you can either walk to the old town in 20 minutes or get a grab down there very easily. I would highly recommend this hostel!

Hostels – what are they?

Hostels offer so much more than a cheap place to stay – they're also a fun way to travel and meet like-minded people. Common areas like shared kitchens and game rooms give you the chance to swap tips, tricks, and travel stories with backpackers from all over the world.

Hostels have come a long way since the first youth hostel opened back in 1912. Nowadays there's something for everyone, from budget "crash pads" to 5-star "poshtels." Whether you'd prefer a bed in a shared dorm or your own private room, you'll see that most hostels are cheaper than local hotels – and a lot more fun, too!
