When in Chiang Rai, don't forget to visit the Golden Triangle, the pride of Chiang Rai province. Pay a visit to the Doi Tung Coffee farms and buy some coffee beans, it's good for the community. Another great place is the Mae Fah Luang Arboretum - the park is a garden of magnificent flowers in a mixture of hilly shrubbery that colours the landscape in a picturesque manner. Of course, the Golden Triangle is the birth of the opium industry, and the House of Opium or Opium House will rejuvenate your curiosity. Of course, in Chiang Rai town, the White Temple is a must and if you have time the Blue Temple as well. At night, walk to the clock tower that chimes in colours, and that will forever nestled your memories with delight and longing for more...

At the hostel rooms include bed linen and towels. The hosts here were SO hospitable and friendly, I just couldn’t get over it. We’ve travelled a good bit of SE Asia and this place was high up there with the best I’ve stayed in. The older woman couldn’t really speak English but always had google translate up to give us recommendations and help. The younger lady was always on the other side of the phone/WhatsApp with excellent English if required. She even helped us get from the bus stop to the homestay via bike taxi as we only realised on the journey to Mae Sariang that they’re likely wasn’t public transport. We rented a scooter from them also for the day (only 200 baht) and was very cool. Rooms were lovely, air con and lovely balcony area. Unlimited tea/coffee and bananas there also. Just such a homely place
